VERY impressed with this boom arm. It's exactly what I've been looking for. Also at a great price. I gave it a 4 star however because it did not come with weights (which wasn't clear in the description). I had to call B&H to clarify (and it even stumped them). Used sandbags I had instead.

Great boom

Great addition to my home studio. The RD-1205 gives me lots of lighting options I couldn’t otherwise do. I recommend the Cambo boom, its professional build quality. Just a few notes that might help first time buyers avoid my initial confusion… you are not going to put this boom on a standard light stand. It requires either a stand with a ‘baby pin’, if you wish to slide the boom’s female mount over a pin, or a ‘junior female’ if you want to remove the locking screw from the boom mount and slide the boom's female mount into the junior female, which is what I do. I wound up buying the Kupo High Roller stand (KS300112). It handles this boom without any problem, plus has casters to make positioning easy. For counter weights, I bought 2 10lb plates and one 5lb. So far, the two 10s have been just right, but kept the extra 5lb in case I ever go heavier on the front end. If you want a boom, this is a great setup.

Counterweights for the Cambo RD-1205 Redwing Boom Arm for Light Fixtures should match the weight of the light you will be placing at the other end as closely as possible. This will ensure proper balance when you adjust the angle of the boom. This version of the Cambo is made to accept fitness weights which can be purchased at your local fitness store. Sandbags can also be used as a counterweight for the boom arm. Sandbags over 25lb should also be used on the base of the stand holding this boom arm.

Cambo does not list a support weight on the Cambo RD-1205 Redwing Boom Arm for light fixtures. Customers have used it with lights and modifiers totaling up to 15-19 lb. Make sure the stand you use with that is at least double that support weight.
