The one you want with an F38 tripod to keep a DSLR steady

I recently got a tripod with an F38 clip on top, and it shipped with the ordinary Version 1 F38 plate. You can try to screw it super tight to a camera like my Nikon Z8, but turn things vertical and the camera tends to spin off the plate as the weight of the lens rotates the camera. Then I got a V2 plate, with slightly better rubber: a bit better, but same problem. So, I've got a tripod costing hundreds of dollars, and an ordinary (if heavy) DSLR won't stay on, and at very best you have to crank the screw too tight into the camera. >>This anti-deflection plate is the answer, and IMO should ship with all F38 tripods and brackets.<< No, at least for my DSLR, it's not because of the obvious little lip at the end of the plate. That's actually not in the right place to hold my DSLR either, and if you look closely at the attached picture, I removed that. The crucial thing I did was to take the little stainless steel screw that ships with this plate, and screw it in, where you see it on top in the photo. This slips, as you would expect, into the standard alignment hole that most cameras have not far from the main tripod thread. Bingo: an F38 alignment plate that screws properly into even a heavy DSLR, and keeps it aligned, without screwing the plate on crazy tight. You do need a very small, driver for these screws, but if you look carefully, what appears to be an allen wrench that's included has the tiny end you need. Highly recommended (though, really, you shouldn't have to pay extra for this with an F38 tripod).
