Meticulously crafted for both live performances and studio environments, the RME Fireface 802 FS (Silver/Blue) is a comprehensive, 60-channel USB-B audio/MIDI interface tailored for discerning users who refuse to compromise on sound quality and stability, and who need ultralow-latency operation. Enclosed within a sleek 1 RU 19" design, the Fireface 802 FS incorporates a newly developed analog and digital board with four high-performance microphone/instrument/line preamps, reference-grade converters, a complete effects section, and operation at up to 192 kHz to ensure pristine audio reproduction and capture every nuance with exceptional clarity. Other professional features include active SteadyClock FS jitter suppression, individually switchable reference levels for all I/Os, DC-coupled outputs on all 8 analog line outputs, standalone functionality, DigiCheck metering and analysis toolbox, and seamless operation with Mac and Windows.
On the front panel, the Fireface 802 FS showcases four high-performance XLR/TRS-combo inputs, accommodating microphone, instrument, and line signals with exceptional fidelity. Additionally, two stereo headphone jacks deliver a robust +17 dBu output level, ensuring ample volume even for high-impedance headphones. The back panel offers extensive connectivity options. Alongside MIDI and Wordclock I/O, you'll find two optical ADAT I/Os, an AES/EBU I/O, and eight balanced analog inputs and outputs operating at line level. The newly introduced Multi-Mode allows the two ADAT I/Os to function as separate optical S/PDIF inputs and outputs.
The Fireface 802 FS also includes a switchable Class Compliant mode (CC) for operation with the TotalMix FX mixing/routing software for iPad, enabling users to control the interface from their iPad without any computer. Moreover, users can conveniently connect the ARC USB remote (available separately) via the USB-A port to control the TotalMix FX mixing/routing software.

- SteadyClock FS provides an excellent performance in all clock modes. Its highly efficient jitter suppression refreshes and cleans up any clock signal and provides the clock signal as reference clock at the word clock output.
- The cleaned and jitter-freed clock signal can be used as reference clock in any application, regardless of the quality of the external clock signal.
- The DSP-based TotalMix mixer allows fully independent routing and mixing of input and playback channels to all physical outputs. Independent stereo submixes and a comprehensive Control Room section offer unrivalled monitoring capabilities and unsurpassed routing flexibility.
- TotalMix FX can completely replace an external mixer, enabling the creation of multiple latency-free monitor mixes with EQ, Dynamics, Reverb, and Delay for any outputs—including main monitors and headphone mixes for musicians.
- TotalMix FX for iPad adds full control over hardware mixer and DSP effects when in Class Compliant Mode and lets users create, store, and recall complete mixes directly from the iPad.
- The integration of Room EQ to TotalMix FX adds room calibration to the RME ecosystem, making your Fireface perfect for Immersive audio setups including Dolby ATMOS. Room EQ consists of nine bands of fully parametric EQ, individual output delay, and volume calibration. Users can freely assign up to twenty 20 Room EQs at once to any output(s) they wish including stereo, headphone, and digital outputs for maximum flexibility. Settings can be input manually or imported using tools like Sonarworks or Room EQ Wizard.
- Also added is a feature called Binaural Crossed. This functionality provides speaker emulation in headphones—perfect for mixing stereo or ATMOS in headphones. The Crossfeed function emulates speaker behavior in terms of channel separation, so the extremely wide ambience experienced in headphones can be set in 5 stages.
- The Fireface 802 FS operates in two different modes: driver-based USB 2.0 and Class Compliant Mode (CC).
- The Class Compliant mode is a standard that is natively supported by operating systems like Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux distributions. No proprietary drivers are required, the device is directly recognized when the CC firmware is loaded. The alternative CC mode can be activated via a recessed pushbutton switch directly at the back of the interface.
- The Fireface 802 FS offers full USB 2.0 support in Class Compliant Mode. This makes all channels available in driverless operation for Linux, Mac, and iPadOS. An iPad Pro with USB C can manage up to 60 channels for recording and playback in TotalMix FX for iPad and on system level.
- All of the Fireface 802 FS line-level outputs are fully DC-coupled, allowing you to send control-voltage (CV) or gate (CV) information to modular synthesizers (such as popular Eurorack and Moog/MOTM/Synthesizers formats) and other studio hardware.
- The DigiCheck software (free download available separately) can be used for metering, testing, and measuring and analyzing digital audio streams. It also offers a spectral analyzer, goniometer, and bit statistics in professional quality.
- The separately available ARC USB remote connects to your computer via USB and talks to TotalMix FX directly. It has 15 freely assignable and illuminated buttons, one encoder wheel, and a TS jack to connect a foot switch.
