Nikon NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR Reviews

It Will Not Disappoint

This lens is so quiet compared to my last lens and I just love the internal zoom. I have not used it a lot, yet, but even with the Nikon 2x Teleconverter, the focus is very fast and sharp. My only complaint is how heavy the darn thing is! But, that is why I tried out other lenses first. I am so happy I could finally afford to buy this lens.

Super versatile lens

I wanted a lens that is versatile, reliable, sharp, and not to costly. The 180-600 for the Nikon Z mount does it all. In the past, I've shot with pros who carried long primes, such as 400mm f4. And they've said they loved the clarity of their lenses but did not like having to shoot everything, regardless of distance, with just one viewing angle. I know it would frustrate me. Plus, the cost of those prime lenses is way out of my league. Yes, the 180-600 is heavy, but I think I've mitigated that problem a bit by using it with a side-saddle gimbal on a monopod. I've used the lens only a few times since purchasing it, but I've always been pleased with the stability and sharpness.

Yes, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR Lens can be used hand held for bird photography. Using a tripod and gimbal would provide more stability but those items are not needed for all photos.
