The black PE-505B Phono Equalizing Preamplifier from Teac employs a fully balanced circuit design throughout all stages to amplify, equalize, and maintain the signal purity of even the faintest audio signals picked up by a turntable cartridge.
The PE-505 amplifies faint audio signals picked up by the cartridge, processes them without coloration, then delivers them faithfully, to allow the listener to feel as close as possible to the original performance as it was engraved on the master disc. High-precision RIAA correction circuit and Decca and Columbia curves are supported. Load resistance for MC cartridges and load capacity for moving magnet cartridges are selectable, so you can optimize the settings for the type of cartridge you are using and for the condition of the record.
- NF-type equalizing amplifier achieves less than ± 0.05dB of RIAA deviation (20 Hz to 20 kHz)
- Achieves 106 dB on RCA input, and 86dB on XLR input, while residual noise voltage reaches 10μV on moving magnet and 85μV on moving cartridge
- High-precision OLD EQ curves
- Modern RIAA curve, individual curves on monaural records from DECCA and COLUMBIA issued before RIAA curve was defined in 1955 are also supported
- Switchable load capacity for MM cartridges and switchable load resistance for MC cartridges
- Load-resistance measuring function allows users to select appropriate load-resistance by pressing the MEASURE key on front panel
- Shows total load-resistance value including cable resistance on the gauge
- Subsonic function shows subsonic signals less than 6 Hz on the gauge, while the subsonic filter (17 Hz, -24 dB/octave) cuts unnecessary low frequencies out of hearing range
- With quick demagnetize function activated, both magnetized iron cores of MC cartridges and the step-up transformer are demagnetized after 30 seconds of playback
