Buffalo DVSM-PUV8U3B Reviews

Solid, Simple Product

I Needed A Portable CD/DVD Drive To Access A Pile Of Photos Stored On CD. The Buffalo MediaStation Worked Well For This Purpose. It's Pretty Much A Set-and-forget Product. The One Complication I Had: It Wasn't Clear That The Necessary Driver Was Accessed Via Their CyberLink Software. Once I Installed The CyberLink Software, The Drive Was Recognized And Everything Worked As Expected.

Quiet As A Church Mouse

I was impressed how utterly quiet this drive is. Instant access to files and video as well. The ONLY thing I wish they dispensed with is the proprietary USB cable which is like that provided with a outboard Seagate harddrive and such. I wish it was a standard USB-C or A plug and cord arrangement. The cord is very short and I have to place the unit on the top of my desktop computer...not ideal. Wish the cord was at least longer. Otherwise highly recommended.

Will this work with an M4 iMac through a USB-A/C hub?
Asked by: James
Yes, the Buffalo MediaStation 8X Portable DVD Writer () is compatible with an M4 iMac, but using it through an unpowered USB hub is not recommended and may cause issues. You should use a powered hub or connect the drive directly to your iMac with an appropriate adapter.
