Flotone GFT428 overview

  • 1Description

A synthetic PVC material with beautiful, smoothly graduated backgrounds that afford interesting lighting effects. In a few minutes, a photographer can achieve beautiful effects that would take hours with lights and single-tone backgrounds.

Each sheet is individually handmade to achieve a silky matte, non-glare surface.

The material and colors do not absorb water, so they can be used with ice cubes, fruit, flowers etc. They can be cleaned with a mild soap solution and soft cloth, making Flotone reusable.

Flotone GFT428 reviews

Graduated Background - 31x43" - Studio Gray is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for art object photography I use this product for photographing turned wood art objects such as vases, bowls, platters, and other vessels. The graduation is very uniform and truly neutral so it does not impart a color cast to the item being photographed. It is stiff enough to be used without a support underneath for most items, but works best if you have a curved sweep to place behind it. Rough items can leave white scratches in the finish, but I have taken care to not scratch it -- besides the most likely area o get scratched is the bottom edge which is white where scratches do not show. It is made of heavy duty plastic sheet and can be cleaned with a wet rag if it gets dirty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Backdrop for Pottery Bought this for my mother-in-law who makes and sells pottery. Her main concern (looking at the product on two different computers) was that it looked slightly blue-ish in tone and was worried it would not be really gray. I can assure others that it arrived true to color and a nice neutral for most pottery. She also said it was packaged well and the shipping was lightening fast! We are both pleased with this purchase and I will consider gifting her in the future another one of these as she expands her business.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for photographing Sculptures Would be a bit easier to use with a stand, but after taping it to the wall and lighting the piece right, the background is great for a generic backdrop for various different sculptures and ceramic pieces. I recommend all ceramic artists to have one if they send pictures for submission to a gallery; it definitely adds uniformity to the piece, and showcases your work--not your background!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Who Needs Photoshop- Use This Background This product is great it eliminates the need to create a gradient background in Photoshop. The product is subject to nicks and scratches. So be careful. Otherwise, its great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money I was shooting products in a tent, but the white, slightly wrinkled background was distracting (everything is in focus at f32...) as well as hard to color balance. I shot an entire catalog of 50+ glass pieces in the tent, but the post-processing load was killing me. I ordered this studio gray, graduated background (31x43) on Tuesday and it arrived in time for a Thursday re-shoot. Here's what happened: 1)The artist who created the pieces I shot, fell in love with the graduated gray background - he said it was much more 'professional' looking. 2) My post- processing time was halved. 3) Shot-to-shot consistency improved dramatically for both exposure and color balance. The background paid for itself in a single shoot, which is good because it's easy enough to scratch or damage that I don't think it will last more than three to five big shoots. I'm already planning to reorder. I initially gave it four stars because of its delicate nature, but paper backgrounds, even fancy ones like this, are not meant to be durable. Given how well this product achieved its intended purpose, I upgraded my review to five stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product I use this background for photographing beads, so the gradient is a little lost on such a small object, but it will be great for necklaces. I cut it in half, lengthwise and tacked it to the wall. One thing is though, it leaves small black marks where the glass scratches, but it came right out with a little Soft Scrub and a damp cloth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flotone Gradient Backgroung I used this background to take pictures of my glass art for submission to shows. It was the perfect size, and it gave my pieces wonderful depth in the pictures. I came in a tube that is perfect for storage to avoid it getting creases in it. Well worth the money that I paid for it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Studio Gray Flotone - Great Background I'm using this for product photography and have had some great results. You've got to be careful not to scratch it, but that's the only advice I have. Good price, great results.
