Next Level Racing Flight Stand Pro Reviews
I Love It But...
Bought to go with the Next Level Racing Flight Sim Pro Seat to form the complete unit. I gave the Seat 5 stars but this one 4 because of the fit wasn't as good, especially when mating with the Seat. The Stand is wider than the Seat where they meet. I can't say the Stand is too wide, as the Seat may be too narrow. There is an ample supply of hardware, with the caveat that the hard plastic covering over the card the hardware sits on makes it difficult to access. All in all though, once assembled, I love the combination of the Stand and Seat.
A Product I Wanted to Love
The Flight Stand Pro is a product I wanted to love but just cannot. The first issue I have with it is the vacuum form packaging of all the screws, nuts, and bolts. Vacuum form packaging is a horrible way to package pretty much anything, and what makes this example particularly awful are the multiple seams on the interior which make trying to extricate any particular item an exercise in futility. Be prepared to spend 30-60 minutes before assembling anything pulling apart and organizing all the pieces. Just having labeled plastic bags would be a thousand times better, since that's what any reasonable consumer is going to have to do anyway since the vacuum form packaging is, of course, not reusable. Also, take care not to cut yourself on the sharp plastic as you try to pry things out. Second, there are parts where the powder coat has either been scratched off or never properly applied to begin with. Most notably on the flight deck, the most visible component of the entire stand. The exterior and interior packaging was fine, so it must have come from the manufacturer as such. Third, Next Level Racing's site shows a Honeycomb Alpha Yoke mounted under the flight deck, however there is no explanation or example as to how this was accomplished. The best reference I could find was a YouTube comment from them alluding to using countersunk bolts, with no indication as how to actually accomplish this. Fourth, the manual gives mount points for the Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant... that don't appear actually coincide with anything on the quadrant itself, nor are there any specific instructions on how to actually use these mounting points. Fifth, maybe I am just too stupid to intuitively grasp these mounting options so I emailed Next Level Racing's support with these issues and immediately received an automated reply with a ticket number... and then nothing afterwards... for two weeks as of this review. This thing is too heavy and bulky to return in any reasonable manner and I naively discarded all the original packaging before assembly since It's just a stand, what could possibly go wrong with it? So now I'm basically stuck with it and have to make do. The whole idea of purchasing a stand like this is to make it trivial to mount your devices, but now I'm going to have to see about making 3D printed adapters or something just to use the thing in the manner it was advertised. This will be my first and last purchase of a Next Level Racing product. I cannot recommend them at all. Finally, the only reason this is two stars instead of one is that it at least fulfills its basic description as a stand.
