Get the soulful tone of Motown from your DAW with the Hitsville EQ Collection Plug-In from Universal Audio. The software offers a meticulous recreation of two EQ units from Motown's legendary Detroit studios that have graced iconic records by the Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, and The Supremes: the Hitsville EQ and the Hitsville Mastering EQ, both exclusively licensed by Motown Museum / Hitsville USA. The entire electronic path including transformers, makeup amplifiers, EQ-band interactions, and internal clipped filter distortion was modeled using reference units from the collections of Michael Brauer, George Petersen, Jesse Gay, and the Motown Museum, with design guidance from Motown alumnus/technical engineer John Windt.
Both models are 7-band graphic EQs that are very straightforward to use, with frequencies set at 50, 130, 320, 800, 2000, 5000, and 12,500, each adjustable by +/- 8 dB in 1 dB steps. The Hitsville Mastering EQ also features a 1/2 speed switch, which cuts the frequency of each band in half, providing an expanded frequency range for your mixes. The two independent channels on the Mastering EQ can be used in Left/Right or Mid/Side mode for added versatility. This plug-in software download includes a native version that will run on Mac and Windows computers without UA hardware as well as a second version that runs accelerated on Apollo interfaces and UAD-2 hardware.
