Negative Supply's website gave me the impression of a company that makes precision tools at a near-premium price, so I was looking forward to receiving what I imagined would be the first of several scanning components. I was disappointed. To be charitable I'll assume I was sent a prototype by mistake. The negative window is barely a millimeter shy of the width of the negative strip. It's so wide that negatives can literally fall right through it. There's no bevel alongside the opening to keep the strip in line with it, so forget about smoothly sliding from one frame to the next. Then, the channel the strip slides through is so tall (maybe 1/8) that at the opening the film is wildly buckled. I've looked at the website again to see if there's something about this product that I'm missing. Maybe there's a piece of glass or additonal mask I didn't find. Nothing. This item performed so badly that I'm still open to the idea that I've got something wrong. If so, I will retract and correct.
