This design doesn't have anti-deflection pin at the bottom of the plate but has raised lips instead. Can they damage the camera?
The raised lip on the Kirk L-Bracket for Nikon Z8 design should not damage the camera. They act as stoppers, which do not protrude into the frame of the Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera (B&H # NIZ8).

The photo doesn't seem to show a centering mark on the main plate, but only on the vertical extention. Is this accurate?
The Kirk L-Bracket for Nikon Z8 has a center mark on the vertical plate and two marks that cover the center space of the horizontal plate. The horizontal marks indicate the camera position based on how far out you slide the camera on the screw track.

There is a smaller set screw on the bottom of the Kirk L-Bracket for Nikon Z8 near the curve of the Allen key; you may be able to loosen that and reset the tension, making it a tighter hold.
