SLIK Pro CF-635 Tripod (Black)

The SLIK Pro CF-635 Tripod is constructed from carbon fiber to maximize durability while limiting weight. It supports up to 6.6 lb and measures 14.6" when folded. Each of its 5-section legs features an independent spread, a 3-position angle lock, twist locks for rapid deployment, and rubber feet help to enhance stability on a wide variety of surfaces. The included push-and-pull, rapid center column is removable, which permits a minimum height of 3.5". The SLIK Pro CF-635 Tripod provides a maximum height of 44.1" and 51.6" with the column fully raised.

Tripod heads, cameras, lenses, or sport optics with 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 female accessory threads can be directly connected to the reversible mount on top of the tripod's center column. For added versatility, the center column is reversible, facilitating low-angle photography where an attached camera is positioned among the tripod's legs instead of above them.

Lightness comes with a compromise

On the plus side, build quality is good and it is very light for its length. However, when fully extended (I'm tall), we can't expect outstanding stability. By using a 3s pre-delay, long exposures were ok with up to 70mm lens. But it is wobbly with longer lenses, or in windy conditions. Tested with a 600g full-frame mirrorless.

So lightweight and workable

Everything works as expected. Easy to operate. Tripod legs operate smoothly and easily. Sturdy as long as you don't exceed the weight specifications. I'm sure in windy conditions the weight hook will be a necessity to make it sturdy and not top heavy. Very easy to carry on hikes. Will fit in my carry-on suitcase if I remove the ballhead (not included and not a problem to just unscrew it), which is the reason I didn't buy the 3 section-- too tall. Nice looking product.

Would this be a good option for holding a Canon 5D Mark IV with a 70-200mm lens attached? Based on the max weight of this tripod, that combination should work well correct?

We would probably suggest a unit with a 10lbs payload the following unit only supports a 6.6 payload system. Review the following unit which will support more of a payload Slik Pro CF-733 Tripod (Black) BH #SLPCF733 • MFR #615-924 https://bhpho.to/3E08hhQ

After the legs are extended and it is setup, do the legs stay open when you lift it off the ground or do they fall closed?
Asked by: Matt
The legs on the Slik Pro CF-634 Tripod stay extended as long as the leg locks are engaged.
