The circular case that came with my CPL filter felt like an accident waiting to happen. I could see the case or the filter falling from my hands while I tried to open it or even being too slippery to open in the first place. This clamshell case works great and solves the problem. The hardshell design is what I was looking for -- it's better for my use than a soft pouch or a pair of screw - on caps.
This filter case is made well and the magnetic latch is secure. I have not tried a drop test but I see no need to.
