Designed for file sharing in small business, remote work, education, research, and creative content, the Jupiter Mini 100TB 5-Bay NAS Server from OWC / Other World Computing is a secure and centralized desktop-sized NAS. Built with a 20TB Toshiba MG10 Series 7200 rpm Enterprise hard drive in each of its five SATA III 3.5" drive bays, the Jupiter Mini features a capacity of 100TB as well as a 2.2 GHz Intel Xeon D-1518 4-Core processor and 32GB of 2666 MHz ECC Registered RAM. Connect to your network using the two 10 Gigabit Ethernet or two Gigabit Ethernet ports, while additional compatible peripherals may be connected using a VGA port or two USB-A 2.0 ports. Also available are two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports for a keyboard/mouse or an OS update, plus a Gigabit Ethernet IPMI port for remote management. For storage expansion via an optional 12 Gb/s SAS PCIe HBA, there is a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot.
To help futureproof your business, the Jupiter Mini uses an Enterprise-grade file system called ZFS RAID, which collects data on your hard drive status, records snapshots, and has built-in parity protection. Even in the case of a drive failure, ZFS keeps your file data available and, upon replacement of the failed drive, the system will repopulate the data that was on the original failed drive keeping your data available and your operation running smoothly. The Jupiter Mini comes preconfigured as RAID Z1 and may be reconfigured as RAID Z0, Z1, Z2, Z3, and ZFS Mirror. It runs using the TrueNAS OS and is compatible with Windows, Mac, Chrome, and Linux.
It also includes networking features usually exclusive to Enterprise environments. The Ethernet ports can use subnets to act as virtual fences that separate different parts of your network (each subnet can have its own security measures). Or you can opt to combine the speeds of the ports on the Jupiter Mini with port bonding, providing a single high-bandwidth connection.
The Jupiter Mini is pre-loaded with TrueNAS, an open-source NAS OS that automatically protects and mirrors your data. TrueNAS is open source, meaning that it constantly receives security patches, feature updates, and has been refined to be as easy-to-use as possible. The TrueNAS dashboard can be accessed from any user's macOS, Windows, Linux, UNIX, iOS, and Android device.
