TP-Link C200 Reviews

Tapo C200 Honest Review

By David
Rated 5 out of 5

Item was recommended by my parents nurse, to help monitor them when I was away as a caregiver. The nurse also uses for her clients and said it was great and the best part, NO SUBSCRIPTION FEES!!! All the other cameras charge an arm and leg to use monthly and this camera had none, has great HD quality, tilts and pans and all controlled from your phone. Easy setup and use daily to also talk to my parents and they can hear me and answer back! So much cheaper than others I have reviewed. Love it! Plan on getting more for my home to keep an eye on my pets.

For the price I give it 5 stars

I bought the C200 to observe the habits of the neighborhood stray & ferule felines. The software is a bit glitchy but the camera functions very well. Because of the glitches I wouldn't suggest it for a security camera, for remote viewing (at home or away) it's a really decent product. The Google app is great for a smart phone, Memu software enables viewing and control on a pc.

Do I need to pay for a subscription to use the camera
Asked by: Logan
Hi Logan, No, a subscription is not required to set up and use the Tapo C200. There is an optional Tapo Care Cloud Storage subscription option; however, the Tapo C200 also supports local storage to a microSD card (not included), which does not require Tapo Care.

Is there one of these that is battery powered so you don't have to plug it in?
Asked by: alan
Hi! The Tapo Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi Security Camera line does not currently have a battery operated model. We do have battery operated models for both indoor and outdoor use, that offer convenient mounting options, such as the Tapo C425 (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1792710-REG/tp_link_tapo_c425_smart_wire_free.html).

What does the entire system involve, for the Tapo C200 to react to motion and record as long as someone is moving within range?
Asked by: Allan
Hi! First, you will need to download and install the Tapo app on your smartphone. Then, ensure the camera has a means of storing video, whether it be via local Micro SD card storage (SD card not included), or via a Tapo Care Cloud storage plan. Once you have set up the camera and ensured it has a means of recording video, you can set the parameters within the Tapo app for when you want it to record, and for what types of events or detections.
