This mount is primarily marketed for use with action cameras and the payload is not specified, however, i have only used it with my Sony FX30 mirrorless cam, and have not had any mishaps, not even with one of the arms becoming loose after being secured. Every time I have mounted this device to my interior car windows and occasionally on the exterior hood of my vehicle, I have not experienced any issues or close encounters. It has worked as expected every single time. Does require a bit of force to secure the arms and one should be cautious not to damage surfaces. Tightening mechanism works well and tightens the entire arm. Folds up to a nice compact size and comes with detachable mounting piece for action cameras (when detached, can use with mirrorless cameras) overall satisfied with my purchase and enables me to get some really creative and versatile shots/angles. Plan on ordering a second one soon to actually use with an action cameras (admittedly, I still feel uncomfortable mounting my expensive mirrorless camera to the exterior of my vehicle, despite having had 0 issues)
