I wanted something inexpensive to try and see the wildlife in my yard, and it's OK. It seems inconsistent. For example flying insects will set it off, but other recordings start with a deer smack in the middle of the image, like it's really slow to start recording. Also deleting and decrypring recordings will often freeze the app, or at least take longer than I think it should. On the plus side the solar charging works well, or you can also charge it via USB if there are many cloudy days. Image quality seems pretty good.

Don’t waste your money on any other products!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me tell you, I have been a ring customer for so long. After trying this out, I am absolutely switching all my cameras out for these. The quality is amazing, I wasn’t able to check yet if it is completely weather resistant. But it’s super easy to install and the battery last forever!

will this camera operate on your wifi network without the Homebase unit through the included mobile app?

Yes, eufy Security SoloCam S220 2K Solar-Powered Battery Camera will operate independently. It does not require the Homebase . You will need a wireless router/network that supports 2.4 GHz. When using the camera with the eufy app.

Presumably the camera records video, using the 8GB storage. How much recording can be done, and does the camera automatically delete/erase older footage as the memory is filled up?

The eufy Security SoloCam S220 2K Solar-Powered Battery Camera can store about 90 days of footage if recording is limited to 500 seconds of clips per day. The camera records only when motion is detected and automatically overwrites the oldest files once its 8 GB memory is full.

It is not recommended to use the eufy Security SoloCam S220 2K Solar-Powered Battery Camera (BH # EUT8134121) indoors. The solar panels would not be effective. Indoors,a USB/AC charger would be required (5 VDC at 2 A (0.9 W).
