APC SMX1500RM2UCNC Overview

Designed for servers, point-of-sale, routers, switches, hubs, and other network devices, the Smart-UPS X Battery Backup & Surge Protector with SmartConnect from APC has a 2 RU form factor and delivers intelligent and efficient network power protection from entry level to scalable runtime. It can provide up to 5.2 minutes of use when running a full load of 1350W and up to 14.5 minutes of use when running a half load of 675W.

This Smart-UPS X features an output of 1350W / 1500 VA, a nominal input of 120V @ 50/60 Hz ±3 Hz, and an input voltage range of 82-143V that may be adjusted to 75-154V, eight NEMA 5-15R battery backup outlets, an 8.01' NEMA 5-15P input connection, a surge energy rating of 645 joules, line interactive topology, and a sine waveform output. Included PowerChute Network Shutdown management software helps to provide unattended, yet proper shutdowns of network operating systems, and also included is an Ethernet cable, rack-mounting hardware, rack-mounting support rails, removable support feet, an RS-232 cable, and a USB cable. Support is provided by a limited 3-year repair or replace warranty and a limited lifetime $150,000 equipment protection policy.

The APC SmartConnect ports allow the run time of this unit to be extended. When using five SMX48RMBP2U external battery packs, this UPS can last for over 2 hours at 1200W. You'll also be able to view the status of your UPS through a secure web portal. Through this remote management interface, you'll receive automatic notifications, firmware updates, and advanced support.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is our go to for any server room, the ability to use in a rack or tower allows for all the flexibility you need and keeps your hardware safe. APC is our go-to for these situations and specifically the 1500VA smart-UPS has been a great choice for us.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The APC Smart-UPS X is the perfect solution to safe guard your network. It’s reliable and ease of use will ensure that your network will remain up and running when you need it most. This APC unit is certainly a robust option for small business and is designed to be rack mounted, but offers the option to be setup as a tower vertically (bracket stands are included). APC makes setup as simple as plug and play, however it’s a rather heavy piece of hardware so you may want a second pair of helping hands if rack mounting the unit. It’s hefty so its not something you want to drop! Once the unit is plugged in, it will prompt you with an easy walkthrough for setup and it will self-test to ensure the battery is operating as expected. Once its complete, the unit is up and running and all set to work on demand! One thing to keep in mind, battery may not be at full charge out of the box, mine was pretty close at 98%. This particular UPS unit comes preinstalled with a Network Management Card which allows for network-based monitoring and management. It also has plenty of NEMA outlets (8 total) to protect your network hardware, so no need for additional surge protectors. This system is also scalable, so should you need more power you can certainly add an additional APC Smart-UPS X-Series External Battery Pack. I also like how simple it is to replace the battery when needed as it’s easily accessible. I’ve had my unit installed for the past couple of weeks and it’s already saved me a few times. I live in an area where we have frequent power outages, so having APC Smart-UPS X is the perfect solution! If you want to provide high quality protection, reliability, and stability against power fluctuation and/or loss, then I would highly recommend adding the APC Smart-UPS X system in your network. It’s simply an excellent piece of hardware backed by unparallel custom support!
