This handy little battery handle will save your day if you shoot longer events or weddings. I absolutely love it!

The gimbal itself is quite small, with the joystick and record button located in the bottom quarter of the unit. I suppose I have average sized hands. I wear a large glove. Holding the unit without an extender on it. I am unable to operate the joystick and record button with my thumb. My unit came with a standard extension adapter (without battery) but even with it attached, I am unable to securely operate the controls with one hand. This battery extender is longer and enables me to comfortably hold the camera with one hand while operating the controls with my thumb. Unless you have small hands, or do not intend to use the gimbal with one hand, you probably need an extension.

The DJI Battery Handle for Osmo Pocket 3 does not have have any audio input or output capabilities.

Can this be charged while not connected to the Osmo 3 body? So a spare could be charging while another is in use.

Yes. The DJI Battery Handle for Osmo Pocket 3 can be charged without the OSMO Pocket 3. To charge the DJI Battery Handle, connect the handle to a USB-C power source. It is recommended to use the DJI 65W portable charger or DJI 30W USB-C charger to charge the battery handle.

Can you program to power on and start recording with one button?

The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 has a setting you can enable to have the camera power on and automatically start recording when you rotate the screen. The DJI Battery Handle for Osmo Pocket 3 cannot be programed to power on and start recording with a button press.
