Leica Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL 14-24mm f/2.8 AS... Overview

Fast, quiet autofocus and a consistently high aperture, the Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL 14-24mm f/2.8 ASPH. Lens from Leica delivers excellent performance for wide-angle applications such as landscape, reportage, interior, and astro-photography. Dual Synchro Drive AF
The autofocus system featured in Leica Summicron-SL lenses provides fast and silent focusing performance from 0.28m to infinity. With the combination of a constant aperture of f/2.8 and Leica's Dual Synchro Drive AF, this lens creates visually stunning video and panoramas.
Prevent Stray Light
Sophisticated multi-layer and aqua-dura coatings on the glass surfaces coupled with a fixed metal lens hood help prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens. Additionally, the lens's aluminum all-metal housing is anodized and protects against dust and moisture.

Eye=-popping images

I've only had the lens for a little while, but I'm extremely pleased with it. At f8~11 the depth of field is astonishing. I'm not a techie,, but stuff up close and far away are really, really sharp. Colors are saturated and true. I have a Sony 14-24 E mount for my a1, and it's very, very good. But this one's better. This is all visceral, not scientific. I'm glad I made the choice

Wonderful Lens

Wonderful lens. Widest I've ever owned...or probably ever shall own. Produces spectacular images. Leica quality, optically, mechanically, and in terms of materials, fit, and finish. You get what you pay for.

Does this lens have stabilization?
Asked by: Manuel
No, the Leica SL 14-24 does not have stabilization built into the lens because the current SL3 line and previous SL2 line both have 5-axis in-body stabilization allowing Leica to produce lenses that are smaller, lighter, and faster by utilizing the cameras highly effective stabilization system.
