FREEFLY Astro Overview

Created to meet the demands of professional and industrial applications, the Astro Base Industrial Drone with Mapping Payload & Pilot Pro Controller from Freefly delivers a feature-rich, customizable aerial platform. This base version of the Astro comes with Freefly's mapping payload, which features a preinstalled Sony a7R IVA camera body and Sigma 24mm f/3.5 lens. The 61MP image quality can be used with Astro's RTK system for hi-res aerial mapping and the capturing of geotagged images. Pilot these missions with the included Pilot Pro controller that features a generous 8" display via the integrated Samsung ActiveTab3 tablet. An included travel case and other accessories enhance your experience and ensure that everything arrives on location intact.

With this payload, the Astro can achieve between 25 to 32 minutes of flight time. You can customize tasks by employing your own code inside the Astro via MAVSDK, as well as using it to send recorded data to the cloud for processing into your workflow via integrated LTE connectivity (the United States only). The code within the drone is operated by Skynode, which powers the Astro with a Linux-based mission computer.

Precision Mapping with RTK
Utilizing the u-blox (F9P) GNSS module and support for L1/L2 GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and Galileo satellite constellations, the built-in multiband RTK system of the Astro can remain steady at various heights and positions. This allows for centimeter-level mapping precision.
Mapping Payload
Preinstalled into the payload is a Sony a7R IVA camera body with 61MP image quality and a Sigma 24mm f3.5 lens. A USB Type-C thumb drive records the images captured in 25 to 32 minutes of flight time. The native mount on the gimbal provides both power and data communication from the camera to a ground station controller via an LTE network. This allows you to control the camera and gimbal while previewing images from the ground. It is required that your drone have the Smart Dovetail attached to support the device.
Pilot Pro Controller
Pilot the Astro and get the perfect shot by using the Pilot Pro's high-resolution rockers for precision camera and gimbal control. Twin sticks and other manual controls let you pilot the drone and access a host of the drone's functions. A preinstalled and customized 8" Samsung ActiveTab3 tablet rounds out the Pilot Pro's controls by giving you a highly detailed live stream from the drone, in addition to essential telemetry data.

Travel Case and Kit Accessories
A protective travel case is included and features a custom-cut foam insert, with sections for the Astro (equipped with landing gear and props) and a variety of accessories. The foam helps with organization and protection, capable of handling drops up to 3.3'. The case is also submersible and dust-tight, meeting the MIL-STD 810G standard. For added convenience and peace of mind, the case is airline checkable.
