I looked for a long time for a ring to use with a shoe mount flash that would allow me to use sofboxes that I already own. It's sturdy and looks professional.

Chimera products are always reliable and well-made and this one is no exception. It's functional and I expect it will last a long time. I would rank it a full 5 Stars if the speed light mount on the bracket fit my Nikon SB-800 a little better. From a design perspective, that is the weakest link, but it does work. It integrates very well with the Chimera Super Pro Plus Softbox, White - Small I use it with.

Yes this speed ring can fit a Profoto A1X. However, a better speed ring option would be the Profoto RFi Speedlight Speed Ring, BH # PRRFISLSR based on its adjustment.

Can you use this speed ring with a Chimera medium sized strip softbox?
I would think so, the rods that give the box it's shape just fit into holes on each corner of the ring, My Chimera's are not nearly as rectagonal as the strips but they are also not square and they work both vertically and Horizontally.
