This unit uses a 1/3" CMOS sensor that captures 2560 x 1440 resolution video at 30 fps. IR LEDs deliver up to 98' of night vision. Additionally, dual spotlights provide illumination for recording full color video at night and in low-light conditions, while deterring unwanted activity. The camera features a 3.18mm fixed lens with 360° panning and 130° tilting ranges. Two-way audio is possible thanks to a built-in speaker and microphone. A memory card slot supports microSD cards up to 512GB (available separately).

Remote management is possible via the Tapo app for iOS and Android. Compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant enables seamless voice commands. The camera is housed in an IP66-rated enclosure for safe outdoor use.

Easy set up on wireless router network. Great picture quality. Pan & tilt features allow installation in practically any location. Wall & overhead mounting options make it suitable for anywhere. It's pretty much idiot-proof, as I can attest to.

Good camera, one small flaw

I’ve tried several inexpensive Chinese-made security cameras (from another online retailer) and so far the Tapo products are the best. The app is very comprehensive and easy for English speaking customers to use. Not something you see with other companies in this category. When I saw them on B&H I was delighted. I prefer shopping at B&H and it was an additional confidence booster to see that B&H has vetted this company. That being said the one feature that I wish Tapo would change is, when wifi is turned off the camera blinks a red light on the camera until the wifi is restored. This only serves to draw attention to the camera by intruders. No benefit to the homeowner. I hope they provide a firmware upgrade that allows users to turn that feature off.

No, a subscription is not required in order to use the camera. Video clips can be stored locally via a microSD card (sold separately). Storing video locally via a microSD card does not require a subscription. Alternatively, we offer an optional, subscription-based cloud storage plan via TapoCare, if cloud storage is of interest to you.

No, the Tapo C520WS connects via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Fortunately, it is common for routers that support 5 GHz to simultaneously support 2.4 GHz.

Is this camera series compatible with the TP-Link Kasa app as used with the KC420 camera or are the 420’s upwardly compatible?

No, the TP-Link Tapo C520WS 4MP Outdoor Pan & Tilt Wi-Fi Security Camera with Night Vision & Spotlights is not compatible with the Kasa app. You must use the Tapo app.
