Proaim Wooden Camera Box Reviews
NOT Perfect… But Does the Job
I like the modularity of the slots. Can fit Panchro and Kimtech wipes on the left side, my 4x5.65 ultra slim IRND’s in the middle, Nucleus M batteries in the larger two holes, laser tape measure and other small AKS in other spots… Overall, build is meh, but I’m able to make it work. My biggest gripes and notes: 1) I had to drill out the small holes to be larger. No sharpies or pens fit properly and that drove me nuts! 2) The slot for the slate doesn’t fit either of my slates… This isn’t a big issue as I don’t 2nd AC, but still an annoyance. 3) The Mafer clamp is cheap… I’ll likely replace it when it breaks. 4) I added strips of gaff tape to the mounting plate to create a more snug/secure connection when mounted to the mafer plate it comes with. It wiggled too much for my liking 5) Include a tape measure female mount on the side of the box please! 6) Sell a replacement plate (the plate that mounts on the mafer clamp). I’d love to have another that is mounted on my cart. That way I can go from my stand to the cart with ease.
A few things....
The Key Features describes the box as made from Durable Teak, but it is solid pine stained with a teak coloring. It is a bit on the heavy side for being so small. My Alan Gordon Slate would not fit into the slots beneath the box and I had to remove the routed slate holder bars underneath the box and rout each one about 1/8 to get the slate to slide inside. The real feature is the price as the included Convi clamp, Front Box Mounting Plate and the Front Box Bracket would cost about the same as this entire set up if bought separately.
