Lynx Studio Technology Aurora(n) Overview

The Lynx Studio Technology Aurora(n) LYN-AN08D16-HD2 is preconfigured with 8 analog ins and 8 analog outs on DB-25 connectors. In addition, it features a preinstalled LM-DIG module providing 16 channels of digital I/O on AES/EBU formats. It is also equipped with a Lynx LT-HD2 Pro Tools HD and HDX interface card that emulates the interface characteristics of the Avid HD I/O converter, allowing seamless operation with Avid systems including HDX and HD Native.

The Aurora(n) LYN-AN08D16-HD2 is a mastering-grade 8-in / 8-out AD/DA converter, which supports up to 24-bit / 192 kHz conversion. Design and technology borrowed from the development of Hilo converters is used to significantly improve specifications and transparency over previous models, while attaining stunning Hilo-like performance. Ideal for audio engineers and producers who demand the most pristine recordings and mixes, the Aurora(n) delivers coloration- and degradation-free signal for mission-critical audio applications in studios, mastering facilities, remote recordings, broadcast and live performance facilities.

The unit features an onboard microSD player/recorder capable of up to 32 channels of direct recording and playback, ideal when working in the field. Two headphone outputs with independent volume control let you monitor your sound with audiophile-grade precision, while a bright TFT LCD display gives you immediate access to all levels and functions, right from the front panel.

Preinstalled LM-DIG Module for 16 Channels of AES Digital I/O
  • The included LM-DIG module provides 16 channels in and 16 channels out of 24-bit AES/EBU, with bit-perfect transmission at sample rates of up to 192 kHz.
  • AES/EBU is a world standard for digital interfacing, and the addition of the LM-DIG to the Aurora(n) means that studios and engineers can quickly and easily integrate its superior audio quality and precise conversion/routing tools with almost any professional-quality recording system, control surface, or other tools that use the AES/EBU standard.
Preinstalled Lynx LT-HD2 Pro Tools HD and HDX Interface Card
  • The LT-HD2 allows the Aurora(n) to be used in all current Pro Tools HD systems.
  • Connected via mini-Digilink cables (available separately) to HD Core, Accel Core, HDX, or Native cards, Pro Tools recognizes the Aurora(n) converter and controls all input and output functions, clocking, routing, and other settings.
  • The LT-HD2 features one Primary and one Expansion mini-DigiLink port. Aurora(n) supports full channel count at sample rates up to 192 kHz.
  • Pro Tools users can benefit from Lynx’s proprietary SynchroLock 2 wordclock technology for very low jitter and low distortion of digital signals.
Discrete Converter Array
  • The analog signal path for each channel has been designed as a self-contained and shielded circuit. Each channel pair has its own dedicated conversion device. This offers many sonic advantages like significantly reducing crosstalk and distortion, while increasing dynamic range and performance.
SynchroLock 2 Sample-Clock Technology
  • Proprietary SynchroLock 2 high-performance sample-clock technology provides a whopping 300,000:1 reduction in jitter, 5-second lock time, and absolute accuracy.
  • Wordclock I/Os provides one input and three outputs on BNC connectors.
Futureproof LSlot Design
Add Channels:

  • Start with eight, sixteen, or twenty-four channels and later add additional groups of eight channels for up to thirty two total.

Add Modules:

  • Additional modules, including the LM-PRE4 4-channel preamp card, the LM-A24 monitoring card, and the DB-ADAT digital I/O card provide further functionality.

Add Connectivity Options:

  • Dante, Thunderbolt 3, or USB, via LSlot cards (available separately).

question

I'm planning use same speakers for HTPC and turntable. Can I use that device as some kind of pre / pro with turntable when my HTPC will be switch off? And if answer is yes then how can I set up volume?
Asked by: Kasprov A.
The The Aurora 16 USB from Lynx Studio Technology will not operate in standalone mode. A more appropriate device for your HTPC setup would be the RME Fireface UFX II USB Audio Interface; B&H# RMUFX2.
