Why so many pieces ?

I had a lenscoat cover to protect my 500mm f4 and it served me well for several years. This is a smaller lens and I think the cover is more pieces (?), some so small (width) that they easily roll when the lens is handled, which leads to spending time unrolling & resetting them. Not what I was hoping for ...

Kind of a love hate relationship with these covers. They do offer great protection without any damage to your expensive investment. But they don’t last and are way too expensive for what they are. I called lenscoat on a previous cover that fell apart before the alleged warranty. They will not back product. Response was that was normal wear.
