ASUS WS WRX90E-SAGE SE Overview

Lay a strong foundation for your workstation build using the ASUS Pro WS WRX90E-SAGE SE EEB Motherboard. With support for AMD's Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000 WX-Series processors through the WRX90 chipset, up to 2TB of quad-channel DDR5 RAM across the eight RAM slots, and four M.2 storage slots, this motherboard can accommodate builds of varying performance to fit your needs. The Pro WS WRX90E-SAGE SE is compatible with both Windows 10 (64-bit) and 11 operating systems.

Form Factor and Expansion
The EEB form factor provides ample room for the larger Threadripper CPUs with up to 96-cores, eight RAM slots, and large VRMs that help cool your components. Six PCIe 5.0 x16 slots are perfect for storage expansion or powerful graphics cards, and there is one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot in x8 mode.
Rear I/O
The rear panel of the motherboard offers access to a wide variety of ports to enhance your workstation.
  • Two USB4 ports reach speeds up to 40 Gb/s for peripherals like external SSDs
  • Six USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports offer 10 Gb/s
  • A VGA output and two mini DisplayPort outputs connect the CPU's integrated graphics to external displays.
  • Dual Intel 10 GbE Ethernet ports and a single Realtek Gigabit Ethernet port provide wired connections to the internet.
  • Two audio jacks allow you to access the Realtek ALC1220P 5.1 audio.
Long-Term Storage and Short-Term Memory
Four M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slots and four SATA III ports provide a well of potential long-term storage space. Additionally, two SlimSAS slots support a range of NVMe devices such as industrial-grade drives, servers, and advanced networking equipment to help you build your digital asset library.

Eight slots have ECC support and can utilize up to 2TB of quad-channel DDR5 RAM which greatly improves your workstation's multitasking capabilities. This means running multiple applications at once, having multiple instances of applications open such as separate internet tabs or photoshop projects, and switching between them will perform more consistently.

Robust Power and Thermal Design
32+3+3+3 power stages with two 8-pin power connectors for the CPU provide plenty of power to the most important components of your build, while large multi-layered VRMs, heat sinks, and thermal pads keep the chipset, M.2 storage drives, and numerous PCIe slots cool.
Server-Grade IPMI Remote Management and Onboard BMC
A dedicated LAN port links to an onboard AST2600 BMC controller for hardware and software-level management. Additionally, the ASUS Control Center Express software enables real-time monitoring and management.
PCIe Q-Release Slim
The graphics card of your system can be removed by directly pulling up instead of pressing a PCIe latch for a streamlined and more consistent user experience.

ASUS WS WRX90E-SAGE SE Reviews

Doesn't boot

Doesn't detect CPU even with the latest BIOS version. POST code shows e5, 45 and then 00. Single PSU Corsair 1500

No bling, just raw performance.

IMHO, the entire ASUS motherboard line should be like this board. 8 channels to memory. 7 full speed PCIe gen 5 slots. 4 M.2 NVMe slots with cooling fan. Support for additional PCIe power and support for 2 PSUs if needed. Built-in 10G Ethernet port. Plenty of fan headers. When working with multiple GPUs, video capture cards, audio devices the entire system flow is very low latency. Two issues I had with the board: 1. The boot Q-LED 00 and yellow light (DRAM) issue are misleading … took me a while to figure out why the board wouldn’t boot. The current BIOS/EFI didn’t recognize my AMD 9975X CPU and required a FlashBios port updated before it would recognize my CPU. 2. The plastic cover over the ports around the backplate area prevents/blocks the use of PCIe 5 slot 1. Fortunately the plastic shroud can be remove without any issues and allow the use of slot 1. 3. Not enough USB-C slot (just 2). If low latency and overall system thru-put is important to your workflow (even gaming), then this board is a MUST. I only have 256GB install in 4 slots but they work at their rated speed 6400Mts without any issues.
