What accounts for the increased light output with the same power draw compared to the original Timpani (6600 lux vs. 3430 lux @ 1m at 120W)?
Asked by: Liam
I hope this will answer your question. For the Taiko, Fiddle, Cello2 and Timpani 2 we use 5 die LEDs which allow for higher brightness and slightly better color mixing. The Timpani 2 is an upgrade from the original Timpani, but most of the improvements are incremental. It has higher brightness; we went from 4 die LEDs to 5 die LEDs which allow for higher brightness and slightly better color mixing The 5-die led has an extra white led which makes the light spectrum fuller. This improves quality metric such as CRI and TLCI. New heat sink design made a more robust fixture and added additional protection to the user interface. We added the option to use 26V batteries. The battery connections have ESD protection, including the data lines for “smart” broadcast batteries. We added Bluetooth 5 protocol giving extended range with 10x sensitivity.

When running off of DC power, does this light draw 15+ Amps (from a "high-load" battery) or will a ~10A V-mount battery suffice?
Asked by: Shane
You can use V mount batteries with a draw of 12 amps or higher with the Timpani 2. One such option is the Watson Pro 14.4V 158Wh Slim Li-Ion 2-Battery Kit with Dual Charger (V-Mount), BH # WACVM2EVM162. https://bhpho.to/3s8dq0H
