Are the USB ports surge-protected and backed up so they can power a modem or router through an outage?
Asked by: peter
The USB ports on the APC BE500G3 Back-UPS System stay powered during an outage (as long as the UPS still has battery left), but they’re just 5V charging ports, not AC outlets. So if the modem/router is the normal kind with a wall plug power brick, you should plug that brick into one of the 4 battery + surge outlets (not the USB). This UPS has 4 battery and surge outlets and 2 surge-only outlets.
