The DC-196 from Milab offers musicians and engineers a workhorse microphone for studio vocals and instruments with a rubber-fitted large-diaphragm, multi-pattern condenser element based on the legendary Milab 2900 rectangular capsule.
A side-address mic, the DC-196 offers a full frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and is suitable for a wide range of vocal and instrumental duties, including leads and backgrounds, acoustic guitar, piano, hi-hats, overheads, guitar amps, and more. The ability to switch between cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8 polar patterns gives the mic tremendous versatility for a wide variety of studio recording applications. Engage the -12 dB pad and the mic can handle loud sources up to 144 dB. With its unique rectangular shape, the capsule delivers an exceptionally smooth off-axis response, making it well suited for use on choirs and string ensembles. The mic is also available as a matched stereo pair where it can be used for X/Y and Blumlein configurations instead of a pair of traditional small-diaphragm condensers.
The DC-196 features a gold-plated XLR connector and requires 48V phantom power for operation. A slip-on foam windscreen to reduce wind, breath, and plosive noises is included. A microphone clip is also supplied.
