I couldn’t imagine shooting 102 mp without IBIS. What minimum shutter spped would you use to get sharp handheld shots????
I've had the camera for 1 day--arrived yesterday. I went out this afternoon to do some test shots, with an emphasis on your question because I had the same concern. Shooting at 1/500th of a second; ISO 800; and A5.6. (very overcast day), I made about 120 photographs without regard to composition or the subject matter. I did buildings, urban scenes, signage, and some ice skaters. I have used rangefinder cameras for a longtime, as well as autofocus cameras. I wouldn't call myself the steadiest of camera holders, but shake and no IBIS has not been a problem with the rangefinders. Today, I found that I hit most of time without noticeable shake. The lines in the focus area are clean and sharp. I was impressed.
Yesterday, I did some indoor shots just to familiarize myself with the camera. Since I was indoors, I was at A 2.8. With medium format that is very shallow, and at times I had trouble determining whether I had shake or it was just bokah. I was using my cat. I found that parts of his fur were sharp, but there was very quick falloff in sharpness. I was shooting at 1/250th (which for my is standard even if I have IBIS) and ISO was usually 1600.
Over the next week I will be working with the camera in an urban setting trying to capture "real" rather than test images, but so far the massive resolution of the sensor and hand holding has not been an issue. I plan to write a full review after I have more real world experience under my belt.
