Optical Motion Capture Software
Pair the Motive Body Unlimited 3.X+ License with OptiTrack cameras and markers to get sophisticated motion capture with real-time motion data and impressive accuracy. Ideal for Virtual Production, gaming animation, and location-based virtual reality, Motive offers simple setup with support for larger volumes.
Motive 3.1
Motive 3.1 offers advanced features like trained marker sets, enhanced sensor fusion, and full support for USB cameras.
Trained Marker Sets
- Advances in machine learning enable Motive to offer tracking and labeling of almost anything.
- Recognize and follow tracked objects like faces, animals, ropes, and more.
Compatible Cameras
OptiTrack cameras compatible with Motive range from the top-end Prime x and sleek Slim series to the lower-cost Flex and desktop V120 and Duo cameras. Motive maximizes the capabilities of each camera to deliver the best possible results.
User Customization
- Customize your Motive workflow by creating hundreds of new trackables, initializing a dozen performers, picking up where you left off yesterday, or starting trials for new patients in medical scenarios.
- Options include hotkeys, custom scripting, mouse presets, and new viewports.
Continuous Calibrations
- Continuous calibration enables Motive to automatically repair or correct against harsh tracking environments.
- Features include Anchor Markers, Camera Partitions, and Bumped camera corrections.
- Any calibration issues are signaled to the user with various colors and alerts.
Presets for Prime Color Cameras
- Small size/lower rate: At 1/4 of the tracking camera frame rate, this is the smallest video size available.
- Small size/full rate: Runs at the same rate as the tracking camera.
- Great image: Has a higher data rate that focuses on the image quality.
- Calibration mode: Preps Filter Switcher cameras for calibration by putting them into object mode.
Active and Passive Tracking
Easily tracked retroreflective passive markers include spheres, hemispheres, and flat disks. Signature Pulse Active invisible IR LEDs provide error-free marker identifications, low-latency data delivery, and <0.1 second acquisition time. These active markers provide a benchmark for low-latency VR tracking, AR ground truth systems, and high subject-count robotics like drone swarms.
Enhanced Sensor Fusion
- Motive's sensor fusion process uses a combination of marker and IMU (inertial measurement unit) tracking to produce ultra-smooth data.
- It offers full 6 Degrees of Freedom tracking with a single data marker to support difficult tracking solutions.
- Ideal for ICVFX (in-camera virtual effects) and VR, sensor fusion produces the smoothest, most robust tracking.
Easy Setup and Operation
With Aim Assist, auto-masking, one-click rigid body creation, versatile hardware, and long-range cameras, Motive offers easy setup even for solo operators.
Sync and Timecode with eSync 2
The optional eSync 2 device enables you to sync Prime and Prime X cameras with any source or signal. Options include Genlock syncing and SMPTE timecode.
Skeletal Solver
- Greatly improved skeletal-tracking precision enables Motive to produce more nuanced animated character performance.
- It also provides more reliable tracking even when multiple markers are lost or hidden from the cameras.
Real-Time Streaming
- Flexible real-time streaming options include turn-key or customized outputs, including support for Visual3D, InSight, MotionMonitor, Unreal, Unity3D, and MotionBuilder, plus the ability to write your own interface with the free NatNet SDK and camera SDK.
- Streaming types: NatNet, VRPN, and TrackD.
- Lab integrations: STT InSight, TheMotionMonitor, Visual3D, MATLAB, and LabView.
- Plug-ins: Unreal Engine, Unity, MotionBuilder, OpenVR (HMD Tracking), and Maya (VCS only).
One-Click Subject Calibration
Create new performers, subjects, patients, athletes, and skeletons with a single click, with the ability to process multiple subjects in the volume simultaneously. Character pipelines for Unreal Engine, Unity, MotionBuilder, and others provide easy, reliable production.
Force Plate and EMG Integration
- Motive offers plug-and-play support for popular digital force plates like AMTI, Bertec, Kistler, and Delsys EMG.
- Supports analog devices, providing real-time display, reporting, and analysis tools.
Validated Marker Sets
- Motive 3 Body includes a library of predefined marker sets, including many that have been scientifically and clinically validated. 3D representations are available for each marker set, enabling fast, accurate placement on anatomical landmarks.
- Predefined sets include Helen Hayes set, Conventional Gait model, and both the Rizzoli Clinical Gait and Multi-Segment Foot models.
Manual 3D Digitization Ready
Use the OptiTrack Micron Probe to precisely digitize both large and small objects using fast, accurate 3D characterization of an infinite number of surfaces and objects.
Advanced Tracking
- Track everything on set using a single system and PC.
- Tracked entities can include drone swarms, micro-robots, performers, props, head-mounted displays, set pieces, live-action and virtual cameras, slates, and more.
