A tremendous potential and in many ways the camera I have dreamed of for long. In practice, the piece that I got unfortunately did not live up to this potential. Unreliable connections in both WiFi and BT, failing shutter, frequent errors in storing images (either empty files, wrong white balance, weird exposures), unstable rangefinder mechanics, occasional system freezes and an unusually high battery consumption indicate that this camera has not matured yet. I nevertheless enjoyed the first part of my journey with the Pixii... it feels like start up and being part of a dynamic community, and indeed being able to actually talk to engineers and the CEO himself is something, although I should add that these exchanges required many weeks of persistent emails to happen (possibly different if you are a professional photographer or blogger). Different issues forced me to send the camera back twice for repair, always with long delays until receiving the courier documents and again long waiting until having it back; that's probably to be expected to some extent, given the small size of the company. Unfortunately the camera has always come back with new problems, and at some point after the 2nd repair, Pixii stopped responding to my correspondence altogether. After several months of silence I involved a lawyer, but to no avail... I do not have the resources to engage in a cross-border court case and it seems that Pixii counted on that, so that's it. Throughout one year, the camera never worked as expected and still does not. Despite being only half-way through the warranty period, I am not even able to return it, and the money remains at Pixii. A rather expensive experience. If you consider buying a Pixii I hope that your experience will be different from mine. In any case I would strongly advise you to not buy the camera directly from Pixii but rather from an intermediary who will handle the interaction with Pixii in case of warranty claims. Good luck!

Thousands of dollars for a rangefinder camera that has an usable rangefinder out of the box. Immediately kills the aesthetic of the experience, along with trust in the company.

Would an 18 mm lens be used to shoot when a 28mm ...

Would an 18 mm lens be used to shoot when a 28mm lens is needed?

You can absolutely use an 18mm lens on this, using the rangefinder int he camera for focus, and a 28mm accessory finder for composition. Users of film Leicas have dine this for decades with wide-angle lenses that did not have frame lines in their finders (like 21mm and 24mm lenses). It is slower and less precise than say an M11 with an EVF, but it is doable to dance your eye between the RF finder and an accessory finder. Leica, Zeiss and Voigtländer made nice 28mm accessory optical finders that can be found used.
