Sabrent 5-Bay USB-C Docking Station for 2.5" SATA HDDs and SSDs

Bottleneck somewhere that limits the RAID0 speed

I bought this to host cheap SATA drives since that's the sweet spot right now in external storage price vs. speed. 2TB SATA SSDs are right at a hundred bucks, so I plan to fill this thing up. I have two in there right now, and each individual drive gets 500 MB/s read and write, as expected. My hope was to do a RAID 0 stripe set in macOS on my M4 Max Mac Studio to have 1000 MB/s throughput. Sadly, I can only get 830 MB/s on the USB-C connection, which should top out at 10 Gb/s, or 1.25 GB/s (theoretically). So I'm deducting one star since this thing should be able to do better. Also, the fan is quite a bit louder than I would like, very audible. Not obnoxious or whiny, and many people wouldn't be bothered by it, but I chose SSDs specifically to not have any noise (my Mac Studio is perfectly silent). I probably don't need the fan, so I'm going to leave it turned off (it's got a handy button, which is great!), and if you really do need it because you're using this with actual spinning 2.5 hard disks, then you'll probably hear the disks instead of the fan anyway. So it's not worth deducting more from the rating, but just know that if you're planning to use the fan, you'll hear it from 15+ feet away.
