Benro Tortoise #2 Reviews
Great tripod BUT some listed specs are wrong.
I have an older Benro tripod that has been great, but wanted one without a center column. This tripod has no center column and is an improvement in every way. The quality of this tripod is top notch. And it has some great features such as the leveling head, two 1/4" holes to mount accessories and a removable hook for hanging a bag, etc... that has a 4mm hex wrench built onto the end. Additionally it comes with another 4mm and a 2.5mm hex wrench. These are cleverly stored inside the legs and are attached to two of the rubber feet. Unscrew the feet to find them, although there is no marking to indicate which one is which. So you may have to check them all to find the wrench you need. It comes with a really nice bag and spikes that can be used in place of the rubber feet. It is also very lightweight and collapses to a short 21 3/8" according to my measurement (not listed in the specs). Some people complained there is no level. That is true but since this head is primarily designed for video, most decent video heads have levels. I use mine for photos with either a gimbal or ball head - and both already have a bubble level. The specs that are wrong on both B&H and also Benro's own website are the max and min height. I think they may be giving the specs for the tripod sold with a head. The tripod by itself max height is 58.5" tall (not 62.4"). The minimum is actually better at 4 3/4" (not 8.9").
