SmallHD ULTRA 7 RX 750 Overview

Add an ultra-bright monitor with wireless control to your production rig with the SmallHD ULTRA 7 Bolt 6 RX 750 Monitor. The unit features an ULTRA 7 bright 7" on-camera monitor, an integrated Bolt 6 receiver from Teradek, and a Gold mount battery plate. The monitor features a bright 2300 cd/m² display, a 1920 x 1080 touchscreen LCD, HDMI and 6G-SDI inputs/outputs that support up to 4K, camera control options, tactile buttons, and 10-bit 4:2:2 Rec. 709 color processing.

The built-in receiver module provides wireless image transmission up to 750', as well as optional wireless camera control using a separately available transmitter module and connection kit. The module can receive via the 6 GHz wireless band, and up to six Teradek Bolt 6 series receivers, as well as 5 GHz receivers such as the Teradek Bolt 4K series, can work alongside one another. It features a powerful internal V-antenna for high-quality, low-latency transmissions, and its unibody design is water and dust resistant.

The Bolt 6 750 RX is a real-time wireless video receiver that supports video signals up to 4K30 via HDMI with no image delay, allowing you to send color-accurate, True HDR images in less than 0.001 seconds
Tactile buttons around the monitor allow you to use the monitor in any condition
The PageOS 5 toolset with EL Zone Exposure Assist, best-in-class waveform, false color, Look-Around Camera Control (sold separately), advanced Teradek RT overlays, and more
Four 1/4"-20 mounting threads on the left, right, bottom, and back of the monitor
Power using a 2-pin power input or included Gold mount battery plate
Optional RED camera control via the 5-pin USB port

Heavy and pricey, but great

It's my first SmallHD, coming from multiple Atomos monitors. It's a tank, probably not best for on camera. Very responsive via buttons or touch interface. I read that their Indie and Cine can be slow in that regard. It's clear and crisp, good colors. The customizable, feature-rich software is one reason to pay so much for the monitor. Main reason I got it was for a super clear wireless image for discerning clients. No banding or distracting compressions. Ability to do multiview is great, not many 7" monitors give you that option. -1 star for not receiving an HDMI UHD signal from my Nikon cameras. If I send the signal to the Ninja V first, then the 3840x2160 signal works fine, weird.

The 703 was a game changer, and now the Ultra 7 with the built-in Bolt 6, they’ve done it yet again. Incredible build quality, feels like a tank, supported with excellent image quality. I do think it’s overpriced, not on sale. But there is no denying that it’s the industry standard when you whip it out. My only gripe is, I HATE touch screen monitoring. It has a lock switch which prevents that, BUT it also locks the buttons. I’d love a firmware update where the lock switch, only locks the touch function and allows the use of the buttons.

The SmallHD ULTRA 7 Bolt 6 RX 750 Monitor does have a fan but is generally quiet in use. Still, there will be some fan noise generated when in use.
