Hi Aaron, Not a goofball question at all. Apple has changed the internal magnet layouts between several iPad models, so this is a very reasonable thing to check. Unfortunately, Your 13-inch iPad Air will not align with the AMS-STAND13's magnets in the same way as the supported 12.9-inch iPad Pro models from 2017 through 2022. However, the stand includes screw-in retention brackets for newer iPads and other tablets whose magnets do not align. Your iPad Air 13-inch should therefore work with the AMS-STAND13 when secured using the included brackets rather than relying on magnetic mounting alone.
