AVMATRIX SHARK S4 PLUS Overview

Switch up to two HDMI and two 3G-SDI video inputs while monitoring the program feed with the Shark S4 PLUS 4-Channel SDI/HDMI Video Switcher with 10.1" IPS Display from AVMATRIX. This model features a folding design with a 10.1" IPS LCD screen on the lid. Use the USB-C output together with your computer for capture and streaming. This compact switcher supports up to 1080p60 video input and output with embedded audio and offers audio mixing using the two analog stereo 3.5mm mic/line inputs and output along with the embedded audio. Switcher control options include push buttons, a T-bar, and IP control via the LAN port.

USB Capture & Streaming
Built-in USB-C port can be used to connect the switcher to a computer for USB capture and streaming using software like OBS, Skype, Teams, VLC, Zoom, or vMix.
10.1" Full HD IPS Display
The switcher features a 10.1" 1920 x 1080 IPS LCD display that provides multiview, preview, program, audio meters, time clock, and menu configuration.
USB and SD Card Recording

Had potential but has serious flaws

I had high hopes for this product when I went for it. Tried to research as much as possible on it. Did not find many reviews, but the few i did find made it seem like an ok product. I had two purposes for this device. One was a backup and/or suppliment to my ATEM Mini Extreme when I am on a gig. The other was for use on smaller run-and-gun gigs. Where I needed an all in one package that can be setup and taken down quickly and had a small foot print. I thought it was a nicely appointed portable studio with a mix of HDMI and SDI inputs, basic effects and audio control, all in a clam shell with a nicely sized 10 inch monitor. Built in Recording and streaming was the cherry on top. Sad to say, this mixer has been plagued with annoying little glitches and operational limitations that I did not expect. Like the Take Bar malfunctioning if you power up the unit with the Bar in the down position. And discovering you cannot record internally while using the internal USB port to send video into a computer. It was months of going back and forth with the manufacturer and Lilliput tech support with phone calls, troubleshooting, trying different firmware updates they recommended. And one point the unit was returned and they sent a replacement. It seemed ok but I discovered later that the HDMI inputs were faulty. Likely problem with EDID. The mixer not identifying itself as a monitor. No computer will see it (without some kind of converter in between). So no computer video. And half of my cameras and all of my DSLRs had problems putting video into the HDMI inputs. If any video came through, it either came in at 480i or no audio with the video. SDI inputs work fine. Manufacture sent me another firmware update last week that seemed to fix the Take bar problem. But HDMI is still broken. They are no longer responding after my last email on the HDMI issue. The unit was purchase on 10/9/24. It is now 6/11/25 and still no resolution to the HDMI problem. This is a fine looking product with fine features that had potential. But it is seriously flawed and the Manufacturer seems to be washing their hands of it. My advise, DO NOT Purchase this model. I have never used an AVMatrix product before. I am steering clear of this maker in the future.
