Satechi ST-GMMSHS Overview

The Stand & Hub with M.2 SSD Enclosure for Apple Mac Mini and Mac Studio from Satechi uses one of the USB-C ports of your Mac Mini or Mac Studio to expand its connectivity by adding another USB-C port, three USB-A ports, two card readers, and an audio jack. There is also a built-in SSD enclosure that can hold an NVMe or SATA M.2 drive to expand storage without needing to plug in an external SSD. For an easier installation, the M.2 screw and a screwdriver is included.

Serving as a stand and docking station, your Mac Mini or Mac Studio slots onto this hub seamlessly and maintains a consistent aesthetic, connecting in the back with the integrated USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 cable. The dual USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports offer speeds up to 5 Gb/s for peripherals such as keyboards, mice, and flash drives, while the USB-A and USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports offer up to 10 Gb/s transfer speeds each for more demanding peripherals. Take information from your camera, tablet, or other device that uses SD or microSD cards using the included UHS-I SDXC and microSDXC card reader slots, both of which may be used simultaneously. For meetings and entertainment, plug a headset into the 3.5mm audio combo jack.

Please note that this item is not compatible with the 2024 M4 Mac Mini and is not available in space gray.

Device Compatibility
  • The Stand & Hub may be used with the M1 (2020), M2 (2023), and M2 Pro (2023) versions of the Mac mini, plus 2022 and 2023 versions of the Mac Studio.
  • For an improved wireless networking experience, please connect to your Wi-Fi's 5 GHz frequency.
  • The USB-A ports are not recommended for charging.
  • Satechi recommends connecting only one bus powered device at a time.
  • CD readers, including the Apple Super Drive, are not supported.
Faster Speeds
Store and transfer your important files, photos, and videos with increased efficiency. Optimized to read both NVMe SSDs at 10 Gb/s and M.2 SATA SSDs at 6 Gb/s, the Stand & Hub harnesses USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 technology to transfer files twice as fast as the USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard.
Extra Storage
Maximize efficiency and minimize clutter using the Stand & Hub's upgraded SSD enclosure, which is now compatible with both NVMe and M.2 SATA SSDs for faster data transfer and increased storage capacity. The SSD feature can also be used to quickly and easily complete Time Machine backups on your Mac, ensuring all your valuable information is securely saved.
Patented Design
Crafted to feel like a natural extension of Mac Mini and Mac Studio, the Stand & Hub's patented design connects through a single cable located on the back of the hub to optimize space and streamline your setup. Its innovative construction also features elevated mounting brackets to ensure a secure hold and carefully positioned vents to promote airflow and keep your device cool.

What’s missing from the Mac Mi

This is what my Mac mini was missing. Front slots and ports make it extremely useful rather than having to reach around the rear to access them. I love the look of it and think it was the only thing missing from the original design.

Does what it says it does. Put a 4G drive in it which works and fits perfect under my studio.

Does it work with the iMac M3?
Asked by: Christian
The Satechi Stand & Hub with M.2 SSD Enclosure for Apple Mac Mini and Mac Studio, B&H # SASTGMMSHS, is not designed to work with the iMac M3; the cable is very short, and the hub is designed to have a compatible Mac Mini or Mac Studio sitting on top of it. I would look at a different product, such as the Satechi USB Type-C Aluminum Monitor Stand Hub for Apple iMac (Silver), B&H # SASTAMSHS, or the Satechi 6-in-1 USB Type-C Hub Clamp for 24" iMac (Silver), B&H # SASTUCICHS, which are fully compatible with the iMac M3.
