Great Solution

I already own a large set of Kase 82mm magnetic filters. I chose 82mm to fit my Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8S lens and to use step-up rings for use with my lenses with a smaller filter size. Subsequently, I have pre-ordered the newer version 24-70mm which now has a 77mm filter size. Instead of selling my current set of 82mm filters and replacing them with 77mm, I purchased the 77-82mm revolution magnetic step-up ring set (I have several lenses with 77mm filter size). Using the 77mm inlaid ring (be very careful installing as it can easily be cross-threaded), the step-up ring pops right into place without the need to screw it in to attach it (there are no threads so the inlaid ring is required) as opposed to the older step-up rings. This has allowed me to continue using my existing filters while simplifying the process.

Clever way to use wider mag filters on smaller lenses

Of the many manufacturers of magnetic filters, only Kase (as far as I know) offers the inlaid rings, which nest inside the lens' filter threads, reducing the risk of vignetting when you stack filters. The only disadvantage is you need to use the provided tool to hold the ring for installation and removal. I bought this kit for 67mm, 72mm, and 77mm for a second benefit, to make it even easier to use my 82mm mag. filters with my smaller-diameter lenses. Installing the inlaid adapter lets me use the regular lens cap and hood until I need one of the filters. When I do, I can quickly attach the magnetic adapter (*different* from the regular screw-in adapters) to the inlaid adapter, then add filters. However, the lens caps for my Sony lenses no longer have enough filter thread to grasp. I bought separate magnetic caps for them (but see my review of those...). For my Sigma lenses, the regular lens caps still work fine.
