TP-Link Deco BE85 Overview

Enjoy smooth 8K video streaming, online gaming, and other high-bandwidth experiences with the TP-Link Deco BE85 BE22000 Tri-Band 10G / 2.5G Whole Home 2-Piece Mesh System. This system is comprised of two Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) modules, each of which can be configured as a wireless router or satellite to transfer up to 21.5 Gb/s over the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands, supporting over 200 connected devices.

Multi-link operation support allows you to simultaneously send and receive data across different frequency bands for increased throughput and reliability. Additionally, Matter compatibility simplifies setup and control over certified IoT devices such as smart speakers, lights, and plugs. Dual 10G and two 2.5G WAN/LAN ports help to future-proof your network by allowing you to connect to multi-Gig internet services and high-speed network devices. WPA3 encryption, TP-Link HomeShield features, and VPN access help to protect your network and its devices against online threats. You can set up and manage features such as the parental controls and guest login through the TP-Link Deco app for Android and iOS.

Wi-Fi 7 Performance
With eight internal antennas with support for 320 MHz channels on the 6 GHz band and 4K-QAM, the Deco BE85 delivers double the bandwidth and packs in 20% more data than Wi-Fi 6.
Multi-Link Operation
Instead of limiting data transmission to one band, Multi-Link Operation (MLO) allows you to simultaneously connect to devices with multiple bands for high throughput, reduced latency, and improved reliability.
Flexible Wired Connections
With a 10G Ethernet and one 10G SFP+ fiber / RJ45 Ethernet combo WAN/LAN port, you can make full use of multi-Gig internet services, compatible NAS systems, and other network devices. Two 2.5G Ethernet WAN/LAN ports are also available.
Strong Backhaul
Connecting the modules directly to each other through their 10G ports allows them to communicate over a dedicated 9 Gb/s backhaul, depending on the distance. You can also configure an up to 4 Gb/s wireless backhaul. Both backhaul types may be combined with backhaul aggregation to maximize the speed, efficiency, and reliability of your network.
Enhanced Compatibility
With the Matter protocol, Deco works as a central controller to manage all your Matter-certified devices. Matter enables seamless communication among IoT devices across platforms, regardless of their manufacturer. Furthermore, it allows you to access the devices in your local area network (LAN) through the Deco app even when your home goes offline.
AI-Driven Mesh Wi-Fi Network
Mesh systems form a unified network that operates under a single name (SSID) for seamless connections as your move from room to room. Built-in AI-roaming technology uses advanced algorithms to learn your daily habits and optimize your connections accordingly.
HomeShield Security
TP-Link HomeShield provides advanced security services that protect your network and privacy. Features include comprehensive network protection against online threats, parental controls, and app-based monitoring.
Private IoT Network
Set up a separate Wi-Fi for IoT devices and overlay HomeShield and advanced WPA3 encryption to better protect the security of your home network and IoT devices.
VPN Client and Server Support
Allow devices in your home network to access remote VPN servers without needing to install VPN software on every device. The Deco BE85 can run both the VPN and ordinary internet connections at the same time, delivering security and flexibility.

I finally upgraded to get rid of my two older routers that were daisy-chained together in a homemade setup that never really worked well. So far the Deco is working great --- I can move from our garage/cottage seamlessly without losing signal, and I am using the ethernet backbone to connect the two devices for enhanced speed stability. No complaints!

I already have three units of x60. Can I add this one to the existing system and make it the one that connects to Fios router?

How do I connect this unit to the Fiber optic cable that comes out of my wall? Do I need an adapter and, if so, how fast?

The TP-Link Deco BE85 BE22000 Tri-Band 10G / 2.5G Whole Home Mesh Module (BH #TPDECOBE851P) will require a fiber converter to ethernet. It is recommended to contact your network provider to install one. Internet speeds will vary depending on your internet plan and devices.

Hi Hongda, Yes, absolutely! Deco Mesh Wi-Fi Systems are designed for convenience, allowing you to mix and match different models within the same Mesh Wi-Fi Network. For best results, we generally recommend placing the most powerful and advanced model at the head of the network as the Main Deco. You can use the Deco app to quickly and intuitively assign a new Main Deco.
