98% of what I shoot is anamorphic, and I came to realize that using a diopter could be helpful in manipulating depth of field. A +1 diopter was as strong as I needed, but I soon realized that I needed less that +1...and those are hard to find and they're expensive. This 95mm +0.5 Simmod was one of the very few I could find. Yes, a little pricey, but not bad in relative terms. Optically it is gorgeous and well made. I did run into one problem with using the step-up ring required for my system. The first two step-up rings would only thread about a half turn. As it turns out, those rings like most, are very slim...and there was not enough thread depth to have adequate thread purchase on the diopter threads. The solution after searching the BH site was the Cavision 82mm to 95mm step up ring because it is the only one I could fine with a spec for thread depth. Its thread depth is 12mm which is perfect for the 95mm diopter. FWIW.
