By connecting to your computer's available USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 (aka USB 3.0) port, the Archer TXE70UH AXE5400 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E USB Adapter makes it easy to upgrade your system for high-speed wireless networks. Featuring two high-gain antennas, this compact Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) adapter supports a max throughput of 5378 Mb/s over the less congested 6 GHz band in addition to the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, giving you the bandwidth for smooth 4K video streaming, online gaming, and video chat experiences with compatible devices.

You can plug the Archer TXE70UH directly into the USB-A port of your computer system, or you can use the included cradle for better positioning and easy removal. The adapter unfolds with a 180° hinge, allowing you to find the optimal angle while beamforming, OFDMA, and MU-MIMO technologies optimize your signal. Your wireless connection is protected by WPA3 encryption. Windows 10 or 11 is required.

Thruput is impressive

We are either on a boat or in an old house and neither has Ethernet cabling so wi-fi is our means of accessing the internet. Laptops and desktops with internal wi-fi antennas fail to allow a user to position an aerial for best signal. This device, with an extension cable that plugs into a USB-C port, allows you to put the antenna in a window or high up on the furniture to achieve the best thruput available from the router that delivers the wi-fi signals. I have an app on Android that allows me to "see" the signal strength of the desired connection as well as others that could interfere with that signal. Once I move around to locate the best spot with that app, I can position this adapter module to take best advantage of signal reception. On the downside, this device comes with a "built-in" driver rather than a memory card or other means to load onto your computer. The module shows up as a DVD/CD Drive, with the initialization files your computer finds and loads. This gets tricky with a new computer. Microsoft recently downgraded the OS Windows 11 Pro, and you can no longer pursue a local, offline initialization of the new computer. You have to have Ethernet access, which in my case was not possible. There is no workaround, according to the computer manufacturer. Beware. The downgrade is not well known as of Jan. 2025, and even Dell had to research why I couldn't perform various sequences they thought should have worked.
