Still getting used to it - but interesting

I have long enjoyed macro photography and when I first learned of these probe type macro lenses was quite intrigued. This unit is about half the price of the Venus Optics (a brand I very much like and have other glass from) but alas, Venus does not offer a model with the Fuji X mount. Still, this seems fine with two caveats: First, mounting one of the probes on the base unit that has the camera mount is somewhat difficult, in that the bayonet lockdown system is not well designed. It takes a few tries to align things properly - this could use some improvement Second (and I do know know if the Laowa differs here), while the periscope probe can make for very interesting compositions, it does not allow any kind of rotation - so you must rotate the entire camera body, which is not always an easy thing to do inasmuch as to use the lens it needs to be on a tripod (I use it with an X-Y rail like this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1130512-REG/oben_mfr4_5_macro_focusing_rail.html on top of a geared tripod head for fine motion control like this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1410665-REG/benro_gd3wh_3_way_geared_head.html So this lens is not one to expect to use quick action shots... One other note - the built in LED lamps are nice, but if you are in the field you will need a power bank with a USB connecer so that you can plug in the unit.
