Proaim P-CTST-01 Reviews

Excellent Piece of Studio Equipment

No pictures included in this review as the pictures already displayed by B&H say it all - This stand is pure quality, the smaller hardware, meaning bolts / screws are held in place by nylocks on the bolt / screw. Nylock nuts, for those that don't know what they are, contain a nylon insert positioned at the top of the threads within the nut which effectively prevents the nut from backing off the screw once tightened in place - You begin to screw the nut on with your fingers until it won't go further due to the nylon insert, and then to finish up you must use either a wrench or a socket - Once tight the nylock it is not capable of loosening up because of the insert and to remove you will need a wrench or a socket and the nut remains reusable. The reason I mention nylocks is because it is the intent of Proaim to provide quality equipment and this stand passes with flying colors - Cheap companies don't spend the extra money it costs to purchase quality components - EVERYTHING on this stand fits and it fits well due to proper placement of drilled holes. A note that wasn't included in the setup directions... at the very, very bottom of the tall vertical there are 2 tiny allen screws - You do NOT need to remove them, just back out a few turns initially and leave them loose for the moment - Take note of the in place countersinks on the short vertical, those countersinks are for alignment purposes - Then remove the 2 large allens completely. This will allow the tall vertical to slide down as far as possible on the short vertical found on the short wheeled section - Once the tall vertical is FULLY seated on that short vertical, verify the tiny screws are lined up with the small countersinks and snug up those 2 tiny screws, no need to go crazy with tightening force, good and snug will do the job - This will ensure you are properly lined up for the 2 large allens that need to be reinstalled - Once the large allens are in place tighten fully; note both of those allens screw in quite a bit so don't be surprised at how much you need to turn them in, just make sure you tighten them up all the way otherwise the large vertical may rock in place to a degree, something you don't want. This is a well built quality stand - Unless you prefer to spend thousands and thousands on a camera stand you will love this one - Money well spent!!

Amazing price for a well made stand

From what I can tell online this looks like a near identical dupe of the Manfrotto Mini Salon 190 Camera Stand, but for about a third of the price. I have only put it together and tested it out, but I’m impressed by the build quality and ease of use. It’s nice and heavy duty and will definitely be good for the type of long exposure photography I do. I’m used to laying down three sandbags on the tripod every time I shoot. Incredible that shipping was free for a 91lb package!
