Flanders Scientific XMP310 Overview

The FSI Solutions XMP310 31.5" QD-OLED HDR Mastering Monitor provides comprehensive color accuracy and precise image processing for post-production professionals. A QD-OLED panel individually renders illuminance and color per pixel for advanced picture quality and power efficiency compared to traditional OLED or LCD screens. The XMP310 accepts and displays video signals at up to DCI 4K60, and it supports the use of custom LUTs and integrated monitoring tools.
Firmware Update 3.2.03
  • New PQ-based LUM Colored False Color Mode for HDR. When the monitor is set to PQ EOTF, the LUM Color False Color mode will automatically switch to a PQ nits-based scale instead of percentage.
  • Waveform will now automatically switch between PQ nits and percentage-based scale depending on the configured EOTF. If set to PQ nuts, the waveform will be shown in nit levels. If set to any other EOTF, the waveform will automatically revert to percentages.
  • A more pronounced visual indication that Clear Panel Noise (CPN) is running has been added. A green tally light will now flash when it is activated and running and will stop when CPN is complete.
  • The luminance custom slider will automatically limit the top custom threshold based on your monitor model.
QD-OLED Technology
The XMP310 uses a QD-OLED panel for reference-quality monitoring. Its 1000 cd/m² brightness and 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio provide rich and detailed images. QD-OLED panels feature additive color emittance, preventing brightness limitations when viewing HDR footage.

The XMP310's QD-OLED screen uses per-pixel luminance control for more precise image rendering. Independent dimming of each LED module allows the monitor to properly display the whitest whites and the deepest blacks. Colorists and editors benefit from the wide viewing angle, which enables comfortable monitoring with minimal image distortion or color shift.

Comprehensive Color Management
FSI's custom color gamut covers 100% of many industry color profiles and up to 90% coverage of Rec2020. The XMP310 also supports custom 3D or 1D LUTs to attain the desired color profile. Built-in autocalibration software helps to read the LUTs and adjust the monitor using a wide variety of color management settings. Color management menus are separated into two menus for Color-Global and Color-Input. Color-Input allows for independent color space configuration per input to directly assign unique Gamut, EOTF, White Point, Range, and Luminance settings. Color-Global allows for universal application of color management settings across all inputs. Updated DIT LUT functionality in Color-Global mode for up to 16 DIT Look LUTs to be saved to the monitor's memory. Once saved, pull the DIT Look LUT from the monitor's Color-Input menu.

The monitor is also compatible with third-party calibration applications for the development and deployment of custom LUTs. Advanced LUT interpolation delivers a higher degree of precision with better on-screen performance than simple LUT processes. Multiple real-time overlays and tools, including markers and exposure checkers, are integrated into the XMP310 to help operators precisely hit their marks. Scopes, Menus, and OSD Status windows have been updated to operate at a consistent luminance level regardless of the set operating mode. This renders scopes and menus at a comfortable brightness level in both SDR and HDR modes. Added Gamut Toggle menu with options for Hue Preservation or Max Saturation to define mapping behavior in a particular color space that may be larger than the display can achieve.

Off-Axis Viewing & True Black
XMP Series monitors have a wide viewing angle, with low off-axis contrast and color shift. The flexibility to view these displays accurately from a wide variety of positions allows for more comfortable viewing.

Accurate per pixel-level luminance control means true black levels at all times with no artifacts or motion limitations found on FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) LCDs. The per-pixel emissive design guarantees simultaneous high contrast with all varieties of content.

Power Efficiency
The XMP310 is more power-efficient than most other reference-grade HDR display solutions. The efficiency of the XMP310's top emission display structure means less power is required to attain the same luminance levels.
Quiet, Fanless Design
The XMP310 utilizes a combination of a graphite heat sink and an all-aluminum chassis to efficiently dissipate heat without relying on fans. The aluminum chassis not only provides increased strength and durability in professional installs, but it also helps efficiently conduct heat away from the panel.
Professional Connectivity
The monitor's 12G-SDI connections simplify room design by allowing you to input DCI/UHD 4K signals to the display over a single cable. Quad HD-SDI and 3G-SDI connectivity are also supported, ensuring compatibility with any type of DCI/UHD 4K output. The XMP310 also supports advanced signal formats up to 12-bit 4:4:4 4K resolution.

The XMP310 features the unique ability to simultaneously supply a clean 12G/6G loop-through and real-time quarter-sample down converted 3G or 1.5G output. Any incoming single-link DCI/UHD 4K signals can be converted to 2K or HD outputs for downstream HD monitors or scopes, all without needing any standalone down-conversion equipment.

Advanced Signal Status Detection
XMP series monitors automatically read payload ID (VPID) information embedded in SDI signals and configure the monitor's SDI Format mode for proper support of 4:4:4 or 4:2:2, 10- or 12-bit, and RGB or YCbCr signals. This information can also be temporarily displayed whenever a format change is detected, so that you can be sure that what you intend to output to the monitor is what the monitor receives. Automatic signal locking on unclean switches and format changes upstream of the monitor have been improved, reducing the need to re-press an input to force signal re-lock due to unstable signals.
Quad-View Mode with 4-Channel LUT Support
Ideal for multicam applications, XMP series monitors allow up to four synchronized HD input signals to be displayed on screen at the same time. Both 6G and 12G signals are now supported in Quad mode, as well as support for empty inputs to display between two to four signal simultaneously. Quad View mode can be quickly activated or deactivated with a single button press allowing you to view all four signals simultaneously or any selected input in full screen.
Remote Control
The IP Remote Utility can be used to remotely toggle functions, switch inputs, and navigate the menus on the monitor using a macOS or Windows keyboard, mouse, or control panel. The app is also available for iOS devices.

A Stream Deck can be easily configured for use with the IP Remote Utility to trigger shortcuts. Quickly and easily save up to five custom configurations and switch between them with a single button press.

Image Tools
The monitor includes several built-in image tools, including:
  • Waveform
  • Vectorscope
  • LUM coloring
  • Markers
