BASSBOSS SV9 Mk3 Overview

Designed for the discerning artist in the studio or on stage, the BASSBOSS SV9-MK3 is a studio-reference quality monitor that can venture outside the studio thanks to a rugged finish, handles, grilles, and a substantial amount of power. The result is a very compact and portable system for those who demand premium quality and impressive output without large-sized, heavy, and obtrusive cabinets.

The SV9-MK3 features a 1200W Class-D amplifier that delivers 900W to the 9" woofer and 300W to the 1.4" compression driver, which combines for a 50 Hz to 19 kHz frequency response and a maximum 121 dB SPL. The amplifier power, along with the processing power, allow it to be used at higher levels than you would dare with an ordinary studio monitor. Now you can take your studio-quality sound with you when you leave the studio. The integrated pole cup allows the SV9-MK3 to be placed at the appropriate height on a tripod or support pole. A Neutrik powerCON True 1 power cable is included.

What's New
MK3 Amp Update

  • There are all-new amplifiers in the MK3 series. Total power has increased, however power allocated to woofers increased substantially. The higher output voltages provide more impact. Universal input voltage compatibility of 90-250V provides more flexibility. Waterproof connections provide more peace of mind.

MK3 Enhanced DSP

  • The MK3 features an all-new 96kHz DSP. The pushbutton presets have doubled, from 4 to 8, and up to 100 presets can now be stored in the DSP and loaded via LAN. The comprehensive suite of processing includes meticulously tuned equalization, all necessary high-pass and low-pass filters, as well as multiple protection systems and limiters to prevent driver overload in as many ways as possible.

ControlBASS Software

  • ControlBASS software supports an essentially unlimited number of possible BASSBOSS-developed or customized user presets which integrate seamlessly and coherently with all other BASSBOSS products for effortlessly perfect setups. The latest in DSP programming developments can be added via easy remote updating.
SV9-MK3 Design
  • The compact, high fidelity and high output SV9-MK3 continues the BASSBOSS tradition of delivering remarkable bass performance and outstanding sound quality. In terms of output SPL and frequency response, the SV9-MK3 compares to much larger loudspeakers. Such performance from a much smaller enclosure is made possible by making decidedly different design and component choices than competitors.
  • The Birch plywood enclosure is strong and solid while remaining easily portable. The 9” woofer features a large voice coil, providing high power-handling, and a rubber surround for extended low-frequency response. The port has a large area to keep air velocity low, and its exit is clear of the grille to ensure minimal air-flow noise. The low and midrange frequencies are delivered by a custom developed, carbon-fiber cone, 9” neodymium LF driver. The 2.5” voice-coil offers high power handling and provides large displacement for increased LF output. The ultra-light carbon-fiber cone provides high sensitivity, with its rigidity contributing detailed resolution.
  • The high frequencies are delivered by a 1.4” voice-coil polyester diaphragm compression driver through a 1” throat horn with a 90 x 60 degree coverage pattern. The polyester diaphragm provides smooth response without the ringing and resulting harshness that can characterize metal diaphragms. The horn is deliberately placed clear of the grille and flush with the front of the cabinet in order to avoid reflections that would tend to blur imaging or otherwise interfere with smooth high-frequency response.
Advanced Power
The amplifier features a Class D SMPS with PFC, providing two channels, 900W LF and 300W HF. Eight on-board presets allow for a variety of configurations at the touch of a button, and LAN connectivity allows access to virtually unlimited preset combinations. On-board presets provide a variety of high-pass filters to suit full-range operation through a variety of settings that maximize SPL when used with a subwoofer.
Comprehensive Digital Signal Processing
  • The amplifier offers abundant headroom. The proprietary BASSBOSS processing ensures exceptional sound quality and reliability. The cabinet construction, design, and premium components all contribute to the rich, smooth, sound.
  • The SV9-MK3 is suitable for use as a studio monitor thanks to its flat frequency response and premium quality, high-fidelity electronics. Its ultralow noise CODECS, 96 kHz sampling rate processor and high-resolution amplification are on par with the finest studio monitors in the industry.
  • What sets it apart from most compact monitors is the power it provides. The amplifier power, along with the processing power, allow it to be used at higher levels than you would dare with an ordinary studio monitor. Now you can take your studio-quality sound with you when you leave the studio.
Innovative Construction
  • With an enclosure that is just 18 x 10 x 15” and a mere 27 pounds, smaller events can be covered with ease. The Birch wood cabinet features integrated handles, a 1.4" steel pole socket, and is finished in durable, high-pressure polyurea coating.
  • BASSBOSS loudspeakers are protected for safe, high-power operation. Optimized cabinet design, premium quality drivers, power-matched amplification, and comprehensive processing ensure that no matter the demand, they keep their cool, keep their character and keep on working.
etherCON Interface
  • The new DSP features an Ethernet interface that can be used to control the cabinets from a computer or to load software or firmware updates. The ethernet connectivity in conjunction with the DSP board allows signal to be sent via Milan AVB. Firmware updates will provide access to this feature.
  • Within the software, multiple cabinets can be grouped together, allowing them to respond to commands simultaneously. This permits the levels of multiple loudspeakers to be adjusted together and yet independently from the levels of other groups of loudspeakers. In addition to individual and grouped level controls, presets can be loaded and signal levels and temperatures can be monitored. Each cabinet includes a two-port switch so multiple cabinets can be chained on the same data cable.
  • The MK3 DSP features storage capacity of up to 100 presets, eight of which can be accessed at the touch of a button with no need for a connected computer. The eight directly accessible presets are compatible with all the presets in the MK3 Top Boxes and are also compatible with previous generation tops and subs.
Neutrik powerCON True 1 TOP
New to the MK3 are Neutrik powerCON True 1 TOP (Total Outdoor Protection) waterproof mains connectors. Waterproof mains connectors along with a totally isolated input connection section and cones that are waterproofed make the MK3 series the powered loudspeakers that can be used outdoors without fear of what the weather will bring. (Or used indoors without fear of what the partiers bring.)

BASSBOSS SV9 Mk3 Reviews

Best Sounding in Price Range

Moved from RCF HD12A's to a pair of these. They sound great and flat out of the box no outboard processing. Built like a tank. Met my needs perfectly - these are for small/medium events up to 100 or so. These do not get very loud in full range. Use high pass preset to get another 3 db out of them. My SSP118 outruns these with headroom to spare. Couple notes - odd shape. difficult to find covers/bags - Update firmware to latest when you get them, mine were several revs behind.
