The First TC Electronic Product Has Returned
Experience the magic that started it all, updated for modern players, with the SCF Gold from TC Electronic, a recreation of the company's first ever product. Featuring three selectable modulation modes, incredibly low noise, and the same analog bucket-brigade chip (BBD) as the original, SCF Gold offers versatile stereo modulation.
The SCF Gold provides players with selectable Chorus, Flanger, and Pitch Modulation modes, with each mode offering different functions for the Intensity knob. With an updated analog preamp, you get enormous headroom and better bass response. The new 9V power input makes it more convenient to slip your SCF Gold onto a modern pedalbaord. And with optional stereo output, you can turn your plain monophonic guitar tone into epic, immersive stereo soundscapes.
Where It All Began
The legendary Stereo Chorus Flanger was the first TC Electronic product ever. Their founder, who is also a musician, was annoyed with the quality of effect pedals available back in the '70s—they were just so noisy.
So, being an engineer, he set out to design a pedal that would live up to his expectations and high standards. That was how the SCF was born all the way back in 1976, and the rest is history as they say.
The Sound of Silence
When the original SCF was launched in the '70s, it earned the nickname The Sound of Silence due to its incredibly low noise. TC Electronic have maintained that status and ensured that the reissued SCF Gold sports an incredible signal-to-noise ratio for a full-throated rejection of unwanted noise.
Triple the Modulation
Chorus, flanger, and pitch modulation—three modes that deliver the magic swirls, wobbling wonders, and pure shimmering awesomeness of the SCF, staying true and paying tribute to the original.
Speed Control
Speed controls the rate of sweep in a range from 1 sweep every 10 seconds, to 10 sweeps each second (0.1 to 10 Hz). Slower Speed settings usually work well with higher Width settings, and faster speeds should use lower Width settings.
Intensity Control
The Intensity knob has three functions, one for each mode:
- In the Chorus mode, Intensity blends between chorus and your clean signal
- In Flanger mode, Intensity controls the strength of the comb-filter phasing of the signal (similar to feedback on a delay)
- In Pitch Modulation mode, Intensity blends chorus with vibrato
Updated Preamp
TC Electronic bumped up the analog preamp of the SCF Gold to provide more headroom, and improved low-frequency response over the original SCF pedal. This provides you with a huge dynamic range that makes your tone excel whether you're softly fingerpicking or slamming a funky riff out at maximum loudness.
Can Handle Any Output
Some guitars have a hotter output than others, and most pedals just deal with that. With the SCF Gold's dedicated Input Gain and Overload indicator, you can set the input gain just right, making sure that you benefit from having the best signal-to-noise ratio in the pedal jungle, and maintain that extreme dynamic range.
