SCIENCE IMAGE Flow 2 Overview

The FLOW 2 4K 12G-SDI/HDMI Up/Down/Cross Converter from SCIENCE IMAGE combines frequency conversion with an optical transceiver in one very compact device. As a worthy successor to the FLOW 4K, the device employs a user-friendly intelligent scroll wheel to facilitate operation using just one finger to scroll up and down to choose the menu and manage the settings without needing to enter the web UI.

Ideal for professional use in a broad range of applications, including broadcast and large events, video conferences, and variety shows, the unit performs up and down conversion in 35 formats at up to UHD 4K60 with support for 12G-SDI/HDMI inter-conversion and output with just a click. Capable of simultaneously transmitting and receiving 3G/6G/12G-SDI and HDMI 4K video, the unit handles maximum transmission to up to 12.4 miles.

An optical transceiver switch in the web UI enables users to easily select between operating as an HDMI or an SDI optical transceiver, with the scroll wheel facilitating SDI and HDMI input priority settings, transmission or reception, and selection of the desired output resolution. The optical transceiver also works as an SDI/HDMI bidirectional converter, giving you a very affordable solution for multiple tasks with broad flexibility and convenience. Power can be received by the device either through the Ethernet input (PoE) or the DC connection with the included 12 VDC power supply.

PoE power is nice. What's not nice is that they arrived to me with audio passthrough defaulted to off, and the only option to configure is through the web GUI. What's not nice is it doesn't show me the correct DHCP IP because my DHCP takes too long to reply. What's not nice is there is no support for SDI ancillary like Captions data. Save your money and buy a Decimator.

No, the SCIENCE IMAGE FLOW 2 4K 12G-SDI/HDMI Up/Down/Cross Converter cannot output different resolutions from the HDMI and SDI.
