Designed for both the RS 3 Pro and RS 4 Pro gimbal stabilizers, the DJI Focus Pro LiDAR unit makes achieving intelligent autofocus intuitive and easy for solo cinematographers. The rangefinder unit makes focusing on objects in motion a breeze thanks to its expanded 76,800 ranging points, 30 Hz refresh rate, and 65.6' maximum detection area. This allows it to support both wide-angle and telephoto lens configurations.

The unit features a built-in camera with an equivalent 30mm focal length and 70° field of view to ensure accurate focus. Toggle between wide-angle, telephoto, and focus spot modes depending on the needs of your shoot. ActiveTrack Pro is activated when paired with the RS 4 Pro gimbal for improved recognition and tracking performance with multiple subjects or subjects at a distance. It is compatible with the Focus Pro Motor to provide accurate cinema-style autofocus. The LiDAR unit mounts on your RS 3 or 4 Pro series gimbal or camera via cold shoe or 1/4"-20 thread, and it is powered via a USB-C power cable.

Autofocus
When paired with the Focus Pro Motor, the LiDAR unit can facilitate autofocus with compatible lenses. The unit's 76,800 ranging points can project within a 1.6 to 65.6' area. It also features a built-in camera with an equivalent focal length of 30mm and a wide FOV of 70°, catering to the focusing needs of most scenarios.
Updated AutoTrack Pro
The next-generation ActiveTrack Pro can directly read images from the camera built into the Focus Pro LiDAR Autofocus without needing the Ronin Image Transmitter. When using ActiveTrack Pro, you can directly monitor or frame the subject on the RS 4 Pro's OLED touchscreen. Even if the target is briefly obscured, the LiDAR unit can quickly relocate and retain focus.

Overall I want to say it works like a charm, if the camera and lens flange are calibrated and your main goal is shooting people, especially faces. It does glitch sometimes, but 90% of the time it works much better than an average 1AC (non A-list guy) does. The issues are mostly connected with the user-friendly, or say - non user friendly UI and UX. First off, the maximum distance one can set the lidar from sensor plane is 300mm, or 30cm. Ideally, you want to place the lidar as close to the front of the lens, as close to the optical axis as possible. But you can't do so because of this UI limitation - on such lenses as Atlas Orion, Cooke 2x Anamorphic, Hawk V-Lite, Arri Allura 18-80, Fujinon 18-90, Red Pro Zoom 18-85 etc. They all are around 25-40cm themself, which means you can place the lidar just shy before the mattebox, which makes the lidar placement too high or too low. I could understand if one could adjust the angle using magic arm, but the lidar mounting isn't capable to be used with magic arms, at least not so easy. Second, the supplied cables are short, and the port placement is... weird. The lidar ports are located on the right side, but the handgrip is supplied as a left handgrip. Left one makes sense totally for bigger setups, but the already short cable has to be bent several times to stick from pro handrip to the lidar, making usable length even shorter (it's a 30cm cable). One can use usb-c extension cables, which is silly, because DJI doesn't make, produce or sell a longer compatible cable. Nato adapter from the rosette-style adjustment can't be removed, at least not designed to do so. Which means you're stuck with nato rails, and can't adapt to the handgrips or shoulder mounts without a hassle. Overall, the main issue is - short cables (can be resolved) and limited UI on the pro grip to set a bigger distance from sensor (also obviously can be resolved). I really wish DJI would study the potential customer better next time, because this thing is a beast, but the rigging and other user-side things are made horrible, limiting everyone to only one use-case scenario, whereas no other accessories exist. Please, add a proper mounting point to the lidar - like 1/4 thread with arri locating pins, like you somewhy have them on the pro grip.

Is it compatible with Vespid *2* lenses (with Cooke /i lemo port), without calibration?

The DJI Focus Pro LiDAR will not connect with the DZOFilm Vespid2 T1.9 Prime 6-Lens Kit (ARRI PL, Feet), BH # DZ6LENSV2PL, through the LEMO port. The LiDAR system will still work with the lenses through calibration with the camera via USB.

How safe is the laser to human eyes? Aren’t lidar 905nm pulsed lasers are generally considered dangerous even at low output powers?

The DJI lidar for Focus pro is totally safe however, we suggest lot looking directly into the lidar from very short distances. The lasers of the lidar is low power and will not damage your eyes.

The DJI Focus Pro LiDAR would not support other brands of follow focus solutions. It would only work within the DJI ecosystem.

Yes, the DJI Focus Pro LiDAR works along with the DJI RS 3/4 Pro Gimbals and the Focus Pro Motor. This combined system can provide autofocus to any lens attached.

The DJI Does not support the RSC2 gimbal. But you could consider the Focus Pro handle kit which will will work as a stand alone solution, no gimbal required. DJI Focus Pro Creator Combo BH #DJFPCC • MFR #CP.RN.00000404.01
